Wondering about the wait time we will experience (my fiance is from Calgary)

Timeline

We are just starting the process (hoping to file by next week), and were wondering about how long it is taking to process K-1 visas for Canadians. My fiance is in Calgary, and we have friends who just got through this process in less than 5 months (he is coming from Ireland). After looking on the Candian forums, most of the timelines seem to be closer to a year in length. Can anyone give us some insight on their experience as we are trying to figure out a timeline for our big day?? Thanks.

Also, we actually met originally back in 1984 (almost 30 years ago!) and had a long distance relationship for years before we lost touch. We reconnected via Facebook several years ago and have TONS of proof we've seen each other for years. I'm not sure how much "proof" I need to supply. Would it help expedite things to show letters/photos as far back as 1984 to prove a bonafide relationship existed then along with all of the "proof" we have for the past several years?

Thank you!!!

As everyone is saying, it varies a lot. I am from Alberta (Edmonton) and I submitted my application at the end of April and my Packet 3 is in the mail as of yesterday. Took about 1 month at CSC for processing and now another month from that to getting packet 3 so I can apply for the visa, get the interview etc. Had I gone to the TSC, it would have likely taken longer. They do not do Canadian visas faster than anyone else.

Check out timelines on here and you can filter for only Canadian, only CSC applications etc.

My understanding is that Vancouver is faster than Montreal with interviews so being from Calgary you may luck our there too! Not too sure about booking medical. There is no one in Alberta. The closest is in BC, but I have not heard anything but good reviews of that clinic though so I am hopeful/

After all the reading I did, I expect the worst (9-12 months or longer) and hope for the best (3 - 6 months).

Good luck!

It depends on a state you are applying form not by the country. Pretty sure AZ falls under California Service Center. Which is a good thing. It takes about a month these days for Cali to approve 129f application. if it is Texas Service Center it is about 5-6 month.

Answering question if you should submit pics form 1984. Me personally I owuld say no because to me, and this is just my opinion. do not know your relationship nor you but form a stranger prospective First question is - Why you broke up and didn't stay in touch for so long and why all the sudden now recided to get together. So if it was me, I would probbaly focus on most recent relationship you guys started.

But that's just an opinion form a stranger point of view.

I have met my fiancee when i was like 13 but we were never in realstionship(DUH, lol) and never stayed in touch. So I focused on current relationship. However, the benefit you may take form knowing him so long, is oyur friends, parents etc that are aware and support your relationship. You might wanna mention that. pictures with parents or friends would help too.

follow this http://www.visajourney.com/content/k1guide and hang out on this forum and you will be fine. This place is amazing. This place WILL save you so much money that you would spend for attorney:) Just need to listen to people and read;)

Good luck:)
