I-551 to receipt or not to receipt, that is the question

Ok, so update time. I GOT A STAMP! Taing dhan t-sealbh!

So, I called the USCIS help line as instructed, I was met by a customer service agent and asked to be transferred to an immigration officer after about 40 mins later I got a call back and the nice gentleman was kind enough to look me up by my alien number and to tell me that Vermont had sent out my receipt on the 15th of May, only 2 days after accepting my I-751 only it'd gotten lost. He told me I had a case number put in a request for a courtesy receipt to be resent to me and gave me my actual receipt number. From there I drove (or rather my wife did) up to Nashville today, almost 3 hours each way for a 10 minute sit down with a slightly strange and presumptuous representative of the USCIS. After giving me a Scottish history lesson on how William Wallace was a real person after butchering some Scottish place names and calling me Irish for the majority of the conversation, she told me she couldn't give me a stamp unless I was in the system. Technically she didn't need my receipt number but I needed to be in their database I needed a case number and I needed at some point in the past to have had bio-metrics taken in the US, which I did 2 years ago, so I got a year extension I-551. I should be receiving a bio appnt letter at some point in the next month. If I don't I need to head back up to Nashville.

She also quoted Braveheart at least 4 times, no joke.

DMV tomorrow

Glad it's fixed! But I have a feeling you won't receive a biometrics appointment letter.

Some of the ROC filers from mi-April to end of May didn't receive one, and were told after inquiry that their biometrics info were current. From my research, it concerns all the people who already got a biometric appointment for AOS (so CR-1 are not concerned, but ex-K1, yes).

You can take a look at the lists in the April and May filers thread!

Also, you may want to print some documents from the USCIS where it says that the stamp is the same thing as the green card. Some DMV employees are ignorant about it and they may reject you... There was a recent thread from someone who got that issue.

To print: https://secure.ssa.gov/poms.nsf/lnx/0110211025 better go to the DMV ready, in case you need to educate them.

That's from the SSA but you can print some infos from the USCIS website too.

So I paid an extra 85$ for nothing? Lol any chance of seeing that again? DMV was fine actually apart from the crazy wait I was in and out in 15min from the time I was seen. All she needed was the receipt number. Thanks for the links though I'll follow up with it. It's probably a separate thread and i'm sure it's been asked before but citizen ship, 2 passports or renounce citizenship of birth? (Not gunna happen)

So you got your license renewed?

What $85?

You will keep two passports.

At the ceremony, you will verbally renounce allegiance to other countries. For the US, you will be a US citizen. But this speech will not make you actually lose your citizenship in the UK.

AOS for my husband
8/17/10: INTERVIEW DAY (day 123) APPROVED!!

ROC:
5/23/12: Sent out package
2/06/13: APPROVED!

Yeah, if you got waived from the biometrics appointment, they won't refund the $85 fee...
