Ok so I've made a topic about this a few days back, but basically I applied for AOS back in April, it was received by USCIS on the 21st, I got my NOA1, and then had my Biometrics appointment in May and I actually got an RFE just before my appointment (Don't worry, I still went to my biometrics). Now, I only managed to gather up the paperwork and send back the RFE last week, I had USPS tracking and it was delivered on June 13th, now since then i've had absolutely no indication that USCIS is moving on with my case, the online tracking still says the usual "We sent an RFE on DATE: which is the RFE I mailed back. Now I did call USCIS on the 1-800 number yesterday and I was told it can take up to 60 days for them to process the RFE and update tracking? Does this mean I could be waiting a total of 5-6 months just for my EAD card??

Well your case goes on hold while they process the RFE, so you can add the time it took for you to gather to evidence and the time it takes for them to process the RFE to the 90 day approx processing time EAD at least.

Thats how I understand it anyway. I'm still waiting on mine.

No, where did you get that idea. EAD takes 90 days. Add to that any time when RFE was pending.

You know they are going to give you the worse case scenario if you ask about time. Maybe it is processing and somebody forgot to update your status. It's only been about 7 working days so not a crisis yet.

Actually my husband had the same thing happen. Got the RFE right before biometrics appointment. EAD was still approved even though his case is still pending. Took about 73 days or so from the date the USCIS received the original application. You should get your EAD soonish.

Did his EAD tracking update at all? Mines still on initial review so I'm not hopeful

Probably depends what the RFE was for, was it relating to EAD or AoS?

My EAD status didn't really update, just went from initial review to card production one day, nothing in between.

It was for AoS NOT EAD, I guess I might hear more next week then

Your NOA1 is from the end of April, so you have only been waiting 2 months. You have one whole month to wait before you should get antsy. Add to that the RFE time; it looks like you took nearly one whole month to send it back.

Why are you expecting it earlier than it will come? That's just setting yourself up for disappointment.

My husband's EAD changed status once: it went from "initial review" to "USPS picked up/tracking #" data. We did expedite, but it seems like it's not uncommon for EADs to generate and show up without a lot of updating on the website.

I got my EAD approved yesterday. 88 days after the application was received. The USCIS website went from Initial Review to Card Production overnight, I'm guessing they don't update their system much.

Be patient. It will arrive.

Got our RFE for additional documentation on financials and I sent it to the address in Lee's Summit, MO on June 19, they signed for it on June 21 and today, June 25, I see that there is a RFE review on the USCIS website that says they received our response to the RFE and they are processing it. I dont know how long this will take but Im keeping a positive thought. They say that it is being processed out of Nebraska and the timeline is 4 months. Im really hoping that we hear something like really soon cause I dont want to be on the phone trying to talk to someone. The wait is the hardest part of this whole process but we get thru it.

Its all about staying busy and doing something positive in the meantime. Dont think about it so much and perhaps the time will fly by fast.

We received a RFE before biometrics as well. After about a month in RFE Response Review status, my wife's EAD was mailed and AOS went to Testing and Interview. It took 68 days from filing (with RFE) to get the EAD. You will be fine.

Just recently had this.

RFE was for something with my taxes in regards to I-864 on the I-485 application or something. It was weird to get since I sent them my tax transcripts for the past 3 years. Anyway, RFE I think was on May 5th and biometrics May 8th. The only application online that said RFE was the 485. Neither the AP or EAD application ever said RFE awaiting response. Anyway, I replied within 2 days of receiving the RFE. EAD combo card arrived this past weekend even though AP is still pending.

Does your EAD say RFE or is it your I-485 document?
