I am in the process of completing the I-751. In the instructions, it asks for affidavits affirmed by at least 2 people who are aware of my marriage. Do these affidavits have to be notarized or can they just be general affidavits signed by the 2 people? Hope someone can answer this. Thank you.

You don't need affidavits if you have all bona fide evidences. An affidavit is with notarization, otherwise it is a written statement and everyone can make one.

They do not need to be notarized as the person writing them can be called to testify.

USCIS never calls you on phone. All communication is thru official usps mail. Google uscis phone call.

I personally avoid affidavits. Anyone can write one and get it notarized.

I see. Thus far, i have gathered a rental agreement, 401k statement showing my wife as a beneficiary, car insurance with both of our names, roth ira statement showing my wife as a beneficiary, joint bank checking account statement, 2012 and 2013 tax returns, health and dental insurance with her as my dependant under the plan. I just wanted to be safe and provide the affidavits but I am guessing what I just listed is more than enough. I just want to make sure nothing goes wrong. Her conditional green card expires on 8/31/14 and just want to get get all this stuff done within the time frame without a hitch. Could someone tell me if everything I listed should be sufficient?

One last question: Do i write the filing fee and biometric fee on one check instead of two separate checks?

Sorry, I think you have misunderstood. I did not mean they would call someone on the phone. In this case it is more like summoned.

Wrote a single check for ROC, and it was cashed with no problem. I think I did separate checks during AOS, so I don't think it matters so long as the numbers add up.
