How to Check Status on CEAC ?

I can't figure out how to check the status on CEAC!!!

1. I go to this site.

https://ceac.state.gov/CEACStatTracker/Status.aspx

2. I select Visa Type

3. I select Location

4. But in Application ID or Case Number, what do I put in?

I tried SRC##### number that USCIS assigned on NOA1, but didn't work.

I also tried GUZ##### number that NVC sent to me in postal mail, but that didn't work either.

Where do I get Application ID or Case Number?

Oh wait...is that the "AA####" number that is assigned when my fiancee

submits the DS160 online?

So many different numbers, so confusing what's what.

On the ceac site select immigrant visa and enter the number you got from the NVC the GUZ number and it should give you the status. You have to use the Immigrant visa item. Give this a try and report back on issues or success.

Make sure you are selecting IMMIGRANT visa when you are trying to search. It will be your embassy case number that you will search by.

Where are you looking? There is no location. Just Visa Type and your NVC Case# that's it

That worked. I realize our government system is so inconsistent.

The only reason I selected non-immigration visa was because the

DS 160 online form we were filling out had "Non-Immigration" in the description.

Nope, it just shows that it's in "Administration Processing" state.

However, the letter I received from them did indicate that case was sent to Embassy

and the letter had the date, so it must have been sent on the same date or before.

But within few days of receiving the mail from NVC,

my fiancee already received the packet 3 from Embassy.
