AOS case reopened after approval .. super confused

I am so lost at this point , for a couple of seconds i thought i am done with all this for the next 2 years and now i am more confused then ever. Hopeful someone here has an idea of what might be going on. Long short story i am ajusting status from K1

we sent the paper work in nov

Biometrics appt in dec

Received EAD in jan

We moved in april from texas to north carolina and changed the address on uscis web site

On 1st of may we received a letter in the mail at the new address ( being forwarded from the texas one) saying that we have an interview on 5 of may in texas. The letter was mailed out on the 24 of april which is the same day when our change of address posted.

Made all the arrangements and flu in that weekend and we made the interview , all was good , they did not had my physical ( lost it , nice ...) so i got a RFE to submit one .

Submitted the RFE response on 6th of june.

Today i got in the mail 2 letters from them :

1. i 797, notice of action dated 18 JUNE , saying the application has been approved and should receive the card within 3 weeks

2.i 797c, notice of action dated 20 JUNE , saying '' After review, we have reopened this above application or petition, or reconsidered the decision previously issued. You will recive a notice under separate cover once all action has been completed''

So... what does that mean . If someone else has been trough this or have any information , any input would be greatly appreciated.

Called them , got transferred to a supervisor , she gave me no information , was just reading what i already knew , that i received the 2 notifications . She made a service request and that was all her help .

It's possible they are rescinding their prior approval because when you interviewed in Texas you had already moved to North Carolina. As soon as you moved to North Carolina you ceased to be under the jurisdiction of the office in Texas, meaning they couldn't approve you. They may have now joined all the dots together and figured out that the office in Texas should not have approved you if you were living in North Carolina.

If I had to guess I would imagine they will revoke your prior approval and give you a new interview in North Carolina.

When you had the interview in Texas did you tell them you were now living in North Carolina?

Hell yeah, changed my address on line 21st of april , it even posted on their web site on the 24th which is the same day they mailed out the interview appt. Beside we called to uscis and tried not to go as it was difficult to make arrangements in such a short notice and the price of 2000 for flights was not too appealing but they said to go , that is a must we appear to that interview.

No I mean did you verbally tell the IO at the interview that you no longer lived in Texas? They don't get instant notification of change of address forms you file online.

yes we did. the IO also took copy of my NC driver license.

You may have had an inexperienced IO then, which is unfortunate.

You will need to wait for them to contact you through the mail. I think it's quite likely they will want a second interview in NC.

The OP has not been on in nearly 3 years. It would be better to start a new thread then wait for a reply.
