Hi All,

I notice many of you have questions regarding visa wait times, so I hope you don't mind if I piggy back onto your thread and explain my situation.

I completed my visa interview on Thursday May 22nd. It went successfully and because I am a foreigner living in Shanghai, I needed my passport to travel back. I then sent the passport back to the consulate via citic back the following Monday (May 26th). Since the visa is already approved, I assumed it would be a pretty quick turn around time between me re-submitting the passport and having it back. It has now been 3 weeks and I am getting a little anxious as we are scheduled to fly on July 1st. Status on CEAC changed from "administrative processing" to "issued" on Monday June 16th and was most recently updated today. What could be taking so long?! Is it standard for them to hold onto your passport for close to 4 weeks after the interview? I also have a flight booked on July first so the anxiety is setting in :-/ any advice would be greatly appreciated!

thanks!

hey! congrats on your issued status, but unfortunately no one could tell you when you will get your passport back, you can check your passport status on the ustravel website, though i heard that the processing time is longer in the summer time because so many people are applying for visas. my immigrate visa was issued on june 13, and it just now shows that my passport is being processed for delivery, no idea how long it will take to get to my local citic bank, im a little nervous too because my flight is on july 3. after CEAC shows 'ISSUED' - stop checking CEAC

and switch over to the PASSPORT STATUS TRACKER

at ustraveldocs.com/cn -- checking it daily.

usually - it's 5 or 10 business days after 'ISSUED' status at CEAC

until ustraveldocs.com/cn passport tracker thingie shows the start of movement out of the IV MailRoom.
