Hello. I had a question in regards to filling out the Social Security application. My fiancee arrived in NY on a K-1 visa, and she got her temporary work permit at JFK. So when she fill's out the question on Citizenship, does she check off "Legal Alien Allowed to Work" Or "Legal Alien NOT allowed to Work"? I'm not sure because the work permit is only temporary, so can someone please clarify. Thank you.

They will only use your application for reference as to what they are going to type into their data-base. I asked the officer what should I check here? ( also JFK work auth.) she said never mind I'll do it when i type it all in. Then she printed out what she had completed for me to proof read. All done!

I dont know! Probably " other" I only saw my personal details to check for typos. My SS card said "valid with work auth only." Meaning legal with a valid I-94 or EAD .

lou_7979,

A K1 is a legal alien allowed to work, until their I-94 expires. Whether or not they got an EA stamp on it when they entered.
