Hi all, have spent a few days searching and poring through discussions here - what a great site!

My fiancée and I are getting ready to send in our paperwork, but I'm a little unclear as far as addressing.

We currently live in Japan together (I'm just tourist-visaing for the next 10-11 months or so, then we plan to move to Hawaii) but my legal address is still my home in California (which is currently being rented).

For the visa paperwork I've been using our Japan address for both of us. Is this the way to go, or would I be better off using my California address? I mainly ask because it appears that the address can affect which service center things get routed to, and Texas seems to be far slower than California. We are hoping for a wedding ceremony in the states next spring but my fiancée really wants to avoid having our actual legal marriage occur in winter.

Also, I can't seem to get 100% confirmation - once the visa is issued, do we have 4 months or 6 months to enter the US and use it?

Thanks!!

Others correct me if I'm wrong. I would use your California address as the address of where you will be going to domicile. You can always change it once you get your Visa and move to Hawaii. (Are you planning to marry in Hawaii or Cali?). List your current address as your Japan address so you will receive your paperwork there.

My understanding is that you have 6 months from the date of the medical exam to cross the border. And then 90 day to be married once you are in the US. So many things can play a factor in your timeline you might want to hold off planning anything. My finance and I have been planning our wedding and we are taking a pretty big gamble. The only thing that has allowed us to continue is that our venue will allow us to change the date of our wedding if my Visa falls through -- with out any penalties. We are waiting to book anything else until after my interview.

Good luck!
