Maybe I can get a flight to Hanoi and then just fly down from there to HCMC?!?! I am just not calm right now to think. Adrenaline pumping like in the movie "Crank".

Lurker, calm down my friend. You are so closed to the finish line now. First of all, good luck to you and her. Secondly, I personally do not think being to fly to VN is as important as your fiancee getting her visa. Beside, Feb 14 is round the New Year holiday in VN, so getting a ticket this late will cost you dearly. I usually have to book ticket to VN for Tet way in advance. You are talking about 6 months prior.

I used to be indecisive. Now I am just not sure ...

Congratulations on your interview date!

Just getting your fiancee to HCMC and back to Hanoi before Tet might be difficult, let alone you trying to meet up with her. However, you might consider creative options for travel, like flying into Phnom Penh and connecting with a flight to Hanoi or HCMC. A lesser option would be to take a bus from there; it's only one day to Saigon. There are also flights to smaller cities in China that connect with Hanoi. Keep in mind, it's not just Vietnamese New Year, it's Lunar New Year for all of Asia and that means everyone is on the move. It's a very challenging time to travel.

Hey, Good luck. What a great Valentines day. I'm freakin' so happy that they decided to do these interviews before Tet! You can always get a car and driver, man. It'll cost you much more than a bus or train or even what a car and driver would cost if it were not Tet, but thats always an option. Ide do what Wait4ever said, fly into cambodia or thailand then take a bus or something to 'Nam, that seems to be the only way.

Hey Lurker, great news!!!! I remember when my Vo called me and told me the date of her interview which only was a 2 week notice. our problem was the fact that we weren't expecting the interview at that time, so I hadn't sent her everything for the interview. I was freaking out and couldn't calm down too. Take a few thousand deep breaths, and focus my friend. I know you want to be there for her during her interview, and believe me, I wanted to be there also. Whith the timing and the costs, it might be in your best interest to wait until after she gets the Visa to fly there. My Vo got the Blue slip if you recall, and when I went to visit her this past November, with the help of my lawyer she got the pink slip. We went to the consulate immediatley to hand the pink slip and her passport in. I was waiting outside and saw an American standing on the other side of the street. Then the moment came, as she walked across the street and she told him no, she didn't get the pink slip. You could just see the disappointment in his face, not in her, but at the decision. After letting them talk for a while, I approached them and gave them the phone number for my lawyer, and hopefully he can get them the pink. So there we were two Americans, one coming home with his Vo (me) and one leaving his Vo again and not knowing when she will get the Pink. Just use this time before her interview and make sure she has everything in order and knows exactly what each piece of evidence is.

Good Luck!!!!!

Mike and Huong
