If you don't have a complicated case, follow the guides (click guides above) and ask questions in the relevant forums here. Depends on your situation, but usually attorneys will cost you a lot of money, increase the amount of work you must do, and slow things down, because you have to exchange all this information with them.

I'm conflicted over whether or not to post this, but the owner of that firm appears to be embroiled in some serious controversy right now: http://www.andrew-drummond.com/2014/06/thai-brides-visa-agent-on-child-sex.html

12/24/2010 I proposed. She accepted and stayed.

02/25/2011 Married!

03/19/2012 FINALLY submitted the AOS paperwork: I-130, I-485, I-765, etc.

03/23/2012 Received notification that USCIS has received everything.

03/26/2012 Biometrics Appointment Notice: April 23, 2012.

04/02/2012 NOA's received. Now we wait...

04/23/2012 Biometrics completed.

05/18/2012 EAD card mailed but not yet received.

06/06/2012 Rough interview but we think we're approved! Website says i485 status "Card Production".

06/12/2012 We received the "Welcome the United States" letters! Website says Green Card was mailed.

LIMBO: Green card lost in mail. Facing the possibility of paying hundreds in fees and basically repeating the entire process.

All good now! USPS lost it, then found it.

04/24/14 Back to VJ to get help with I-751, Removal of Conditions.

05/31/14 Mailed I-751 finally, with less than a week to deadline!

06/02/14 NOA1 (that was fast!)

07/01/14 Biometrics

7/25/14 Approved for Removal of Conditions

^I say conflicted because I can't find corroborating evidence. And if you dig deeper, it appears that several people in Pattaya are dedicating entire websites to attacking each other, trying to pass themselves off as legitimate press. It's weird and I don't understand it at all.

I am thinking about using USA Immigration Thailand (also known as mythalfiance.com). Has anybody else had experience with this company?

Use the guides on this site and save yourself some money. It is real easy to do. The hardest part you will run into is the language barrier communicating exactly what you need to your fiancee. But their are plenty of people on the Thailand forum here that can help.

I used Siam Legal for mine, and was happy with their services for the most part, I found this site about a month after I started the process with them. If I had found this site first I would have skipped using a lawyer, and saved myself some money. The only advice I can say if you do go with a lawyer is to learn the process and stay on top of them to make sure things move forward. Lawyers deal with lots of cases and yours is hardly ever at the top of the list, but if you are proactive it speeds up the process.

If your case is straight forward (no waivers etc.) then you shouldn't need a lawyer.

A lawyer can't do anything to speed up your case. In fact by the very nature of courier delays (US postal service, fedex etc.) it will actually slow things down. Instead of filing the petition yourself, you have to send all the information to the lawyer, and then they file it. Also, It's entirely up to them when they decide to file it. There may be more pressing issues than your case. They may end up using your petition as a coaster for their beer, Who knows? The point is, once you pay the lawyer and sign the G-28, it's out of your hands.

I made the mistake of hiring a lawyer for my case, and if it wasn't for this website, my wife would probably still be sitting in Thailand. He claimed to have done over 10,000 marriage/fiance visas yet had no clue about the IR-1/CR-1 process. I had to walk him through every step with information I got here. If you feel the need to throw away money, I suggest sending the guy that runs this website a check, because this place is far more valuable than any lawyer.

Welcome to the expat community in Thailand, especially Pattaya. A bunch of angry unhappy foreigners. I personally think they should drop a daisy cutter on that town and start over.

I would agree with the other posters that unless your case is overly complicated (e.g. requiring a waiver of some sort), then it is probably best to skip a lawyer and use the money for something else. Follow the guides here and ask questions your journey should be somewhat hassle free.

FWIW, I used EasyFianceVisa out of San Diego. I found them reasonable, super helpful and super easy. They have a Thai contact in Thailand who was able to contact my wife to help her through the process, all part of the package. We sailed through the K-1 and AOS and I will use them for our ROC in a couple of months. I just wanted it done right the first time and I heard good things about them.

My wife and I just had our adjustment of status finished. We did it all ourselves. It was easy by following this site and reading carefully on the USCIS site. I hear lawyers only slow things down.

Lawyers can slow things down if you are not on top of the process. You need watch for status changes, etc, and call and tell them to get on the ball. That is essentially what did for my K1 and had no issue, but had I not called them when I got NOA2 it would have most likely resulted in at least a month delay.

Some people just can't do paperwork, and a lawyer is better for that case.

I suggest for the ROC it is basically a transfer of data from your AOS forms to the ROC forms, save a few bucks and file it yourself.

Haven't been there and years and will not go back. Funny, the last time I was there I had the exact same thought.

I was thinking to take my husband to Pattaya. I myself haven't been there indecade. Maybe I should changed my mind!

We just AOS also. Everything we did it ourselves. My friend spent so much money to hire a lawyer who did nothing except for asking him to get the required documents.

If you're husband is into cheap hookers, loud obnoxious Russians, and drug addicted ladyboys, then Pattaya is the place to go. If not, I'd look elsewhere.
