Hello Everyone,

I would appreciate it a lot if someone can help me with some of the questions I have regarding the I-134 form, Affidavit of Suppport. My husband is currently residing in Tirana Albania, once the I-130 form is approved I have to fill out and Affidavit of Support. I petition for my husband in Albania, so my questions is once I fill out the Affidavit of Support I sent it to the embassy in Albania or somehow it has to be approved here in the US first. I downloaded a form and it says I have to give an Oath of Affirmation of Sponsor before and officer. Once that is done all I have to do is mailed to Albania Embassy? My parents are sponsoring my husband do I need to fill out a form as well or just the sponsors?

I appologize if sounds very ingnorant

Thanks a lot

Thank you very much for you speedy reply SCY :)

So what is the I-134 for?

And if i fill out 1-864 do i need to mail it to the consulate in Albania?

You are petitioning for an immigrant visa when you use the I-130 form. So you would need to fill out the I-864 Affidavit of Support not the I-134.

I-134 is generally used for nonimmigrant visas like K-1 and K-3. After you file the I-130, you will receive instructions from the embassy regarding the I-864. Each embassy is different and I don't know what Tirana wants you to do. You should contact them.

Luna,

As scy said, you will be completing an I-864 Affidavit of Support.

Typically, your husband would take this to the Consulate for his interview. You need interview instructions from the Consulate now--how long has it been since you submitted your I-130?

You are the Sponsor of your husband, regardless of your current income and you must complete I-864. If your income is not enough, one of your parents can be the Joint Sponsor. both those docuemtns need to be signed in from of a US Notary Public (found in banks etc).

Your husband needs his police check, military records etc etc.
