DCF in Manila

Me and my wife have been married for one month I am a USA citizen,living in Colorado. She is Filipina living in Manila. We were thinking of trying to do the DCF as I will have enough money to live there for a year, and have some extra put back so when we come to the USA we will have money to live on until I can find a job, she also wants to work I have been researching and have found a lot of info on DCF but I will really appreciate if someone that has done this could give some input. I know you either have to have a return airline ticket or an outbound flight which will be better and I know we can apply for the 13a visa for me, but not right away so what visa will I need to get when I arrive there. I believe I have to be a resident there for at least 6 months and I will need the alien registration card can I apply for that as soon as I am there.

I live in the Philippines and have been married 2yrs now and will start the I-130's for my wife & stepson in Jan2015 thru DCF in Manila, for immediate relative visas[iR-2] for them. I believe that after the I-130's are approved, it only takes 2-3 months to complete. The only addition is trying to file I-601's for my wife and stepson to be exempt from the vaccination shots due to religious & moral convictions with the I-130's, which has a fee along with it.

Will be looking forward as well to any advise/help on this process thru Manila DCF...

Process for DCF in manila is pretty straightforward. If you've got everything lined up, you could even get it done in less than a month.

Yes, you will need a return or onward flight, and do the act Picard thing with all the fees that go along with it, unless.... Can you have her meet you in a third country, like hong Kong? If you two enter the Philippines together, you can get a balikbyan stamp, good for a year, makes things a little easier. Still need to register with immigration I think, but its a lot less than doing all the extensions.

Yep, need to be here for 6 months. The entry stamp, plus a cable and or water bill in your name should be enough for the residency proofs. Only issue I see for you is not having income when you are ready to head back. Could be an issue for the aos, but if you've got a cosponsor that takes care of that real easy.

thanks for your reply. I read about the balikbyan stamp, but my wife does not have a passport yet. she never had a reason to get one, however that will be a good ideal .I know I will need a co sponsor my brother will help us

She's going to need to do CFO to get it in her married name if she so desires. Can get the necessary info on that over in the Philippines sub forum.

I've been here about a year myself. Its a great way to not only learn a lot about a new culture, but you can get a lot of experience seeing the way your wife has grown up and lived. Can help you draw closer together in the long run, I think. Totally worth it for me.

Hello there!We filed dcf may 27th,got approved June 4,received case # june 13, sent the ds-260 for cr1 visa June 18 then visa interview on july 18.Dcf is indeed very straightforward.

hi everyone! just new here. My husband is a USC staying in the Phil while I'm working here in SIngapore. hoping you could help me with some questions. Our timeline.

June 20 - got married

July 14 - Submitted DCF requirements

July 21 - approved petition

My husband is still filling up the forms they sent thru email. ds260 and ds 261.

Since I'm working here in SG. we plan to have my interview on my annual leave this august 16-30. is it easy to schedule an interview or is it 1 month from the time we complete the forms? We are worried that we could not get a slot within the said dates ill be in the Phil. Thanks

I dont know if there are dates open in that timeframe or not. You can check the schedule online at the CGI federal site. It was hard to get an appointment for a while, details on that over on the Philippines sub forum. You might be able to find an open date then, and if you keep watching there are cancelations that pop up at random times.

Don't forget your Singapore police clearance.

I've only been in SG for 8 months. The email from embassy says at least a year. But I'll try to get one if they'll provide me one. Thank you
