I am in U.S. petitioning my fiancee in the Philippines. Do I have to show 2 proofs for the I-134 (affidavit of support) or one is enough. My salary is $50,000/year but I read it somewhere that I have to at least provide 2 proofs to back up the affidavit of support. I don't want to go to the hassle of going to the bank and ask for when the account is open and what is the balance...etc...etc. Also together with my proof of salary (letter from my employer), I am also sending my tax return form-1040 and recent pay stubs. What you guys think? I am confuse :( Need help...

Thanks!

Your income is more than sufficient, you will only need past years returns, and letter from employer, along with completed notarized I-134.

EVIDENCE OF SUPPORT.

You should be able to demonstrate that you will not become a public charge or be a burden on the U.S. taxpayers for financial support. Submit your petitioner’s most recent U.S. Federal income tax return (Form 1040) and wage statements (Form W-2). Employment letters stating salaries and bank statements may be included. A completed I-134 Affidavit of Support Form will be useful to the consular officer to evaluate your petitioner’s ability to be financially responsible for you.

Thank you for the information! How many past returns should I submit? Does it have to be notarized? Also it was mention that I have to make 3 copies of each...why?

Question too regarding Question 11. Some say check "do not intend" .... what if I want to check "intend" because I will pay for her visa application, airline, tickets and expenses here in the states while she is looking for a job after AOS. Will it cause problems or will they ask for more documents if I check "intend"?

Thanks again :)

A photo copy of the last 12 months bank statements accomplishes the same thing as the letter from the bank.

As far as copies of your tax returns if you are an employee you need one, if you are self employed you need the last three years. You need your 1040 and three consecutive recent pay stubs.

12/14/2006 Applied for K-1 with request for Waver for Multiple filings within 2 years.

Question 11 dont check anything and note on lines N/A ( K1 visa process for permanent residence )

This form is used for other types of visas like student and temporary work visas.

http://www.visajourney.com/examples/I-134-exp-04-30-07.pdf

Only thing needing notarization is the I-134 form it self.

I have 2 copies, 1 for the Visa officer to add to file, and one to keep with my original file.

I also got tax transcripts for past 3 years, they are free from the IRS. http://www.irs.gov/faqs/faq1-6.html

If I do this...giving my past 12 months of bank statement without a letter from the bank...do I have to put an amount on the line that says "I have on deposit in savings banks in the U.S."?

If you guys know, can I use 401K as an evidence of asset for affidavit? My income is 38K per year. Will they reject my petition because of this? Thanks
Your income is above the 125% poverty line, you need not use assets, only use assets to make yo a short fall between income and the 125% poverty line.

See: I-864P

Your income alone can support 6-7 people.

Only provide them enough financial data to show that you are above the 125% level, more info just invites more questions.
