What's with the long USCIS - NVC times for some people?

I'm not complaining (done enough of that earlier), but it seems certain members have had up to 7 months of gap between NOA2 and getting a case number at NVC? Ours was just over 30 days from the day USCIS emailed me that the packet was sent to NVC to when I received an email response on my case number.

Is the delay widespread or case by case?

CR-1 for my wife
USCIS Stage
11/19/2013: I-130 Sent
11/20/2013: I-130 Received
11/20/2013: I-130 NOA1
11/22/2013: I-130 NOA1 Hard copy
04/22/2014: I-130 Expedite Request
04/23/2014: I-130 Expedite Response: Denied
05/09/2014: I-130 Status Update "your Alien Registration Number was changed relating to your I130" at 9:15am
05/09/2014: I-130 NOA2 (approved) at 3pm
05/14/2014: Case sent to NVC
NVC Stage
06/17/14: Case number and IIN assigned
06/17/14: AOS fee invoiced
06/17/14: Notice from NVC containing case number and IIN
06/17/14: DS-261 available and completed
06/18/14: AOS fee paid
06/19/14: AOS fee withdrawn from my bank account
06/20/14: AOS fee shows paid
06/20/14: AOS package sent to NVC
06/23/14: AOS package arrived at NVC
07/01/14: Sent expedite request to NVCExpedite@state.gov
07/17/14: Expedite request approved, file "immediately forwarded"
07/24/14: Received Expedite Request approval letter in mail
07/28/14: DS-260 available and completed
07/28/14: DS-2001 completed
07/28/14: Emailed AIT with both DS-260 confirmation and DS-2001
07/30/14: Interview scheduled
08/11/14: Schedule medical exam
08/19/14: Medical exam complete
08/21/14: Interview at AIT & approval
08/28/14: Received visa
09/21/14: POE

are you expedited? Mine was NVC received my case from uscis on May 22 and Got the case number and IIN through phone on June 13 and now still waiting to access ds261 and AOS fee.

Nope, though I did try to get it expedited but USCIS took 6 months to approve it.

May 14 is when USCIS mailed the packet, June 17 is when I got the email saying case & IIN assigned, and I paid AOS the same day (see my signature).

Sending in my AOS packet today.

My hubby and I are waiting to the email from NVC to be able to access the ds261 and AOS but they are taking long doing that, today is my 9th day waiting. I got the case and IIN through calling them.

I called them friday and I was told that they are backed up and to just wait it out it sucks this slow ride that we are getting so let's keep each other posted maybe this week

That's great that you are moving through so quickly. Question: did you give them your email address over the phone before they emailed you with your Case # and IIN? Or does USCIS pass on the email info as well?

(Just wondering if I need to keep calling NVC to see if a case # has been assigned or if I can just wait patiently for an email)

12/27/12 - Married in Bamako, Mali

11/12/13 - I-130 package sent

11/15/13 - NOA1

05/27/14 - NOA2

06/16/14 - Case received NVC

07/01/14 - Case number assigned

07/21/14 - DS-261 completed

07/25/14 - AOS bill paid

07/30/2014 - AOS package sent

08/18/2014 - add-on AOS package sent (learned that I should have sent 2 separate I-864s even though the cases are joined...oops!)

09/19/2014 - IV bill paid

09/26/2014 - AOS checklist received

11/09/2014 - DS 260 completed online

12/22/2014 - AOS checklist package and IV documents scan date

03/02/2015 - Case Complete!!! (70 days)

04/02/2015 - Interview in Dakar (221g - Needed to verify a court document)

04/21/2015- Visas in hand!!
