My Parents are divorced... My Mom went to america to work and eventually got married at the U.S.

My Mom and my Step Dad is petitioning me for permanent U.S. residency (I am 20 years of age)
Now my concern is I have a tattoo on my left arm (a Heart tattoo with the name of my ex) and another one on the upper part of my navel/belly button formed like a arc (My nickname in Old English Font).. I've done some internet research for the upcoming medical exam before the interview and I came up with the idea of denial of visa though my Mom told that my visa was already approved at the U.S. embassy I'm still a bit worried about it because of my tattoos...other than that I occasionally drink alcoholic beverages, I don't smoke and I have a healthy diet...

My Medical exam is to be held at Saint Luke's Medical Clinic Manila Philippines

No worries. They are only concerned with tattooes if those tatts are symbols of criminal groups like Sputnik or Sigue-Sigue or even the Nazi symbol.

Hi,

Your tattoos are fine. The US is concern with gang tattoos.

Just to clarify - you only have one petitioner. It's either your mom or step dad. You can't have two petitioners.

Also, your mother is wrong that your visa has already been approved. Why bother with an interview if you are already approved? The approval will happen at or after the interview.

thanks for the info @aaron2020
My other concern is that i'm turning 21 this coming august, though my visa application requirements are done and sent to the NVC before my birthday, now the question is.. if ever I turn 21 and I still haven't received the letter from the NVC/U.S embassy or whatsoever for my interview.. will there still be a chance for me to gain a U.S. Visa/will I still be able to migrate to the US by my petitioner?

Who is your petitioner? Is your petitioner a US citizen when they filed the petition for you?

If your petitioner parent is the US citizen then you have no worries because your age would freeze at the time of filing. Meaning you will not age out even if you turn 21 before the embassy interview.

Now, if your petitioner parent is a Green Card Holder, your age DOES NOT freeze upon filing. If you turn 21 prior to your embassy interview, the consul will apply CSPA to determine if your age by immigration purposes is below 21. If you qualify for CSPA, you will get your visa. If CSPA determines that your immigration age is 21 or above, you will not get a visa. You will be transferred to the F2B category (10 years wait).

Depends on who petition you.

LPR mom or USC stepdad?

thanks alot for the info @apple21 @aaron2020
My Step Dad is petitioning me and oh another thing is I have 4 stab wounds 1 on my back to my right lung, 1 on my right arm which scarred and formed a keloid, 1 on my left leg and 1 near my left ankle.. I got these stab wounds by someone i don't know and got away with it due to mistaken identity.. I was rushed to the hospital by a bystander.

Now my concern is, do i need a past medical report from the previous hospital for my upcoming medical exam at saint lukes?

I don't have any criminal records or gangs/whatsoever...that's another thing that i'm a bit worried about since i have these tattoos and stab wounds....

you should contact the USCitizen step-father and inquire exactly when NVC did what and when.

click 'timeline' under my name to get an idea of the docs and stuff that have to get in to NVC. Don't see 'timeline'? Come back on a PC and try it again.

So - when you see those time-ticks - ask your step-father to tell you WHAT the dates were on those things at NVC.

In the end - when NVC 'completes' the case - the casefile is pushed into the interview queue. AND must wait for interview assignment.

Report back, after studying my timeline and asking your step-father these questions, as it's possible you will age out before the interview..

[a note to my LPR friends - this is a USCitizen petitioning a step-child - priority date and age protection not come into play here]

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !
Ya know, you can find the answer to your question with the advanced search tool, when using a PC? Ditch the handphone, come back later on a PC, and try again.

I had the same experience concerning about tattoo, I was 20 at that time, I was so worried & got it remove on some cheap tattoo shop, and later found out it doesnt even matter & they dont care....as long as its not gang related.

Since your US citizen stepparent filed your I-130 then your age was frozen when the I-130 was accepted for processing, meaning that you will remain classified as a child and therefore an immediate relative of a US citizen, provided your mother married your stepfather before your 18th birthday.

Darnell, children (including stepchildren) of a US citizen can age out if they turn 21 before the process is completed. In this case, CSPA will preserve his status as an immediate relative, provided the condition I mentioned is met.

I have tattoos and there wasn't any problem at medical exam because of them.I don't know about Philippines but in my country having tattoos is not big deal. At the medical exam doctor didn't even ask anything about my tattoos she just took a quick look. Don't worry ,I think you'll be fine .Good Luck !

i just want to share my experience with this CSPA.

i was petitioned by my USC father. he filed it when i was 18 yrs old. he hired an immigration lawyer which didn't do his job. i was interviewed at the US embassy when i just turned 22 yrs old. at first, i thought i wouldnt make it since i aged out. but because of the CSPA i am now here and currently applying for my USC.
