A co-worker friend of mine that lives in south Louisiana married a Russian woman that came over on a K-1 visa. Shortly after they were married in 2004 an FBI agent came by while he was offshore at work to ask routine questions of his wife and also left a card. She freaked out and it scared the hell out of her. My friend later called the local FBI office the agent was assigned to and was told it was routine that their office interviews newly arrived foreign nationals to the area. They never heard anything from the FBI since then. Very strange. I've never heard of anyone else getting a welcome wagon treatment from the FBI. Maybe they thought she was Chechen? (She isn't.)

my wife, Sanita, is a Chechen..the only people to come around was the Welcome Wagon..of course, now i think of it..they were wearing dark suits and had ray-bans on....hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm

did they hand out religious tracts?

OP: i never worried about them coming to my house. but i did worry about the interview being that way. ya know, split into different rooms and asking intimite questions (what color unies etc..)

I always thought it'd be cool to play this insano-newlywed game. Especially if they came over while we were fighting...they'd be all 'yep, they're a real couple' lol

I really wanted them to come by unannounced to see my husband's socks strewn about the place....they would have approved us in an instant.

I wonder why men leave their socks scattered around the place?

Hehehe, yeah, my husband does that too - he just leaves them where he takes them off - the same with his other clothes too - even on the bathroom floor right beside the dirty clothes hamper. Heck, he has even left them on top of the hamper instead of just lifting the lid and dropping them in:-).

It wouldn't bother me to have INS visit, either.

“...Isn't it splendid to think of all the things there are to find out about? It just makes me feel glad to be alive--it's such an interesting world. It wouldn't be half so interesting if we knew all about everything, would it? There'd be no scope for imagination then, would there?”

I also know of a couple this happened to. They arrived at their house unannounced, the USC was away working and the applicant was home. Checked the house out, even asked to see photo albums.

If they could do this then I think they should visit houses with suspecious illegal immigrants too!

I'm pretty sure that's just from the movie Green Card. I don't think the INS would have the resources to waste knocking on doors short of deportation order & a warrant.

Plus, there's the whole 4th Amendment thing, which I think is still in force, maybe. (It's hard to tell, lately)

LOL who do you think you are? If INS folks do pay you visits, they ain't gonna let you sense that. They can come in form of beggars, homeless, candy sellers, health insurance workers etc etc (and the list can go on). Also if any of them can somehow get access to your house, they may even install small-sized wireless audio transmitter in your bedroom so that at night they can listen your...um....you guess! Anyways INS do visit people's house and it's true.
