Creating a USCIS account same purpose as G-1145?

Hello,

The option of creating an account in the USCIS website to monitor each case status is the same as filing G-1145? with that being said, opening an account would be pretty much duplicating information?

The function of G-1145 is to let you know about NOA1...that is it. For further updates, you have to use the USCIS website. You will get no further information from G-1145.

You need the receipt numbers to monitor online, the G-1145 will notify you of those receipt numbers.

Thanks! I have those receipt No. starting with MSC and using "TOOLS" in USCIS website shows the status for each of the three forms I-485, I-130 and I-765. However it does not show any date when it was last "touched" and I read in an old thread here in VJ that you can monitor that by creating an account ( link posted on original post) and that is why I was curious if anyone could create an account even after had filed G-1145 and already getting notifications via text message and email. I just do not want to duplicate information since in the website says that duplicate accounts will be deleted.

Yes, you can definitely create a log-in account even if you filed G-1145. Duplicate account is when 2 accounts are found to be monitoring the same receipt numbers in their uscis.gov portfolio. :thumbs:

When I go to create an account, which do I select for "User Type"? It's a K-1 visa, so would it be Petitioner Filing for Relative?

Dec. 04, 2014 - Form I-129F sent to Dallas Lockbox Facility.

Dec. 05, 2014 - Form I-129F delivered to Dallas Lockbox Facility @ 1100h.
Dec. 09, 2014 - Money Order presented for payment by USCIS.

Dec. 09, 2014 - NOA1 date as stated in hardcopy received on Dec. 15, 2014.

Dec. 15, 2014 - NOA1 Hardcopy arrived in the mail! California Service Center, baby! :dance:

Dec. 30, 2014 - NOA2 eNotification sent to me while visiting my honey!

Jan. 05, 2015 - NOA2 Hardcopy received while visiting the honey <3 Mom didn't check the mail for a few days so we're thinking it did actually show up on the 5th or so.

Jan. 14, 2015 - NVC received.

Jan. 16, 2015 - Case #, IIN assigned.

Jan. 21, 2015 - NVC says IN TRANSIT TO AMSTERDAM! :goofy:
