My fiance and I are currently preparing our I-129F petition and will probably have everything ready to file by early February. Since I live in NYC we will be filing with the VSC. I am planning on traveling to Nepal in mid-May and will likely be there through the summer. I was hoping by that time that our petition would have made its way to the embassy in Kathmandu and I would be there for the interview. I read about packet 2, 3, 4 and I am wondering are these sent to the petitioner or beneficiary? I'm a little unclear as to what happens after our petition gets sent to the NVC, will anything get mailed to me after that point so do I need to be in the US? Can I inform USCIS that I will be in Kat with my fiance and to send everything to my fiance's GPO box?

Packet 2 is the Second Notice of action and it is sent to petitioner telling that USCIS approved case and sent to NVC. "NOA2"

NVC may mail you a letter telling you that case is being sent on to the embassy.

Packet 3 is sent to Beneficiary is instruction packet wit forms to fill and send back to embassy, and a list of documents needed for interview.

Packet 4 is sent to Beneficiary and is the invitation packet, containing interview date, and more forms needed for the interview.

Check out the flow chart.

Thanks, this makes it a bit clearer... :)

You're going through VSC, so you'll most likely have your NOA2 by then (caveat, caveat, of course.) Once you have that, there's really not too much to do as far as the USC is concerned, other than stress.

That's what I was thinking, looking at the flowchart and the Nepal timelines it seems like by May we should have the NOA2 and then it's just waiting - would rather be waiting and stressing together than apart :)
