Hi all

I keep reading that we need a police certificate to take to the Interview at the Embassy. It is not clear if you only need it if you have been arrested or one to prove that you have not been. I have no record and no arrests so wondering if I still need one..

Thanks!

Even though you have not been arrested or have no record you still need one. Not having a police certificate may cause delay to your visa process. Make sure you take your police certificate with you to the interview!

Thanks so much! :)

You need one from NBI and, if you worked in a different country, you'll need one from them, too! If you stayed in a different country for 6 months or more the time that you were 16...you will need to get no criminal background clearance from that country (countries).

I will need the police certificate from the United Kingdom. We found out that we have to download a form from ACRO police certificate online. Once sending off the application - £45 (it lists all supporting documents needed) it takes10 days to receive it (2 days if you require premium service -£80).

Thanks to all for your help!

I got my police check back and at the bottom it said

"Please note that the local police service does not have access to police records in some jurisdictions that this individual has resided in during the previous five years."

They didn't tell me where though. Will this create a problem?

Thanks!

I have been researching the police check and getting everything ready in preparation for our NOA2.

I have seen that there are immigration specific police certificates. Do I need this or a SUBJECT ACCESS REPORT?

Furthermore, I lived and worked in the US for 18 months under a J1 visa, do I def need a police certificate from the US and if so...how do I even start to get that?!

I lived and worked in Massachusetts if that helps.
