ruff estimate for ead

I was just wondering what is the timeframe looking like for employment authorization? Mines was sent june 13. Just wanted to know a ruff estimate because I know it comes after the biometrics appt. Any input would be greatly appreciate. Thx in advance

My wife's application was received may 27. Today we received notice that the biometrics appointment will be 7/7. I understand from others that the card issues about 30 days after the biometrics. We filed at the Chicago lockbox but are assigned to the Nebraska service center.

All of the advice I keep hearing is 'prepare for 90 days, but hope for better'. I have also heard that the biometrics appointment has no correlation with when you get your EAD/AP.

Still anxiously awaiting mine.

Your EAD/AP card has the photo & a fingerprint on it, that was taken when you attend the Biometrics Appointment. So it can effect the time it can take to get them.

The same photo & fingerprint will also be on your G/C.

No, an early biometric does not speed it up. Though they do use the photo from the bio, but they don't put it in the "approve" queue until the time is right, anyway.

In fact, if somehow the biometric appointment is not completed in 30 days, they can and will issue EAD using the photo you send them.

EAD takes 70- 90 days from filing. When you do the biometrics makes no difference. Good luck.

I'm not sure what you mean.

The ASC captures the biometrics, and if they are backed up then the appointment will be later.

The EAD is approved at the NBC.

I imagine that once biometrics are captured, then the file gets in an "approvable" category, so if you haven't gotten your biometrics done around day 70, and someone goes through a batch of applications looking for approvable ones, then your case won't be available to approve. But, as I said, if that goes on for too long, then they will approve EAD without biometrics.

Yeah, my metrics were scheduled 21 days after filing, so hopefully thats only a good omen, although I am aware the time of the bio's are irrelevant.
