What is it about this process that turns normal, well rounded humans into drooling, rock yourself in the corner lunatics? The constant worrying about every little detail, the self doubt. Every day there is a new emotion, something else to panic about. It is enough to drive anyone mad. If it wasn't for the fact it would mess up my chances of getting my Visa, I'd check myself into Unit 92. I could spend my days with the nice Nurses and Doctors and make crafts out of popsicle sticks.

When I sawthe thread title I immediately thought about the movie "Happy Gilmore" when he went to his "happy" place.....

Totally hear ya. Our process has only been moderately stressful (some worries about the I-134, some worries about police record (most likely completely unjustified), lots of parental strain, lots of Church strain), and I'm generally emotionally stable, except for tendencies to cry while watching Scrubs of all things, but you can see the worry etched into my face. It's like I aged four years in the past four months.

When he gets his visa, I'm taking myself out for margaritas.

My interview is next week, and that drooling basket case? well thats me. I'm a worrier to start with. Worrying and obsessing about every little detail to the point where I've tied myself up in knots, broken out, become crabby and sleep deprived. On the eve of the 23rd, some Baileys is in order. Promised myself no booze before that, I need what few faculties I have left. It will all be over soon enough, and so very worth it, just hoping I dont end up telling a customer where to cram it in the interim.

I have to admit.... as time goes by, and we get farther and farther into the USCIS processes..... I am panicking less and less.

I get to practice with all my applications, and then when I do the exact same applications later for my K-2 daughter (who followed-to-join, so all her applications are sent in after mine), I know what I'm doing and know pretty much what to expect.

I'm almost at the Naturalization stage, and my daughter is almost at the Removal of Conditions stage.... we're ALMOST done!!!!!!!!!!! Can't wait!!!!!

I am in the drooling, worrying about every little thing stage. I don't think even booze will help now. Maybe some Xanax ;)

Seriously though, I will let you know when I find that "happy place". Our interview is in 2 weeks and hopefully we will have that happy-making visa in hand :)

I just sent off my Packet 3 with the Checklist to Montreal today. I got it right before Christmas, and am only sending it off now. :dead: I hope that's not going to be a problem...

But having obsessively combed over the whole thing, right down to tracking my employment history month by month on a separate sheet, getting things photocopied, etc, I was nearly hysterical this morning before rushing off to the post office en route to work with folder in hand. My poor Fiance was taking the brunt of my madness (as he usually does). I found myself messaging him with "I CAN'T FIND THE SHEET!! (We interrupt this broadcast to inform you that I like these comfy new pants, and I love you. Now back to our regularly scheduled program.) AAAAAUGGGH!" :bonk:

Sometimes I barely recognize myself. I feel like the bloodythirsty harpies of doom are hovering over my shoulder, waiting for the fateful moment I make some mental typo on a form. Needles to say, this turns me from an intelligent, accomplished adult into a gibbering, weepy mess.

I feel like a teenager; every tiny issue becomes the end of the world. I wonder if they make this process so complicated as to be a form of natural selection? Only the strong will survive, the other ones will go mad and stab themselves to death with the stapler.

If only I could! But the papers aren't in order yet, I still have to go on a mass photocopying spree this weekend. The kids both ended up with the norwalk right after their xmas hols, so much of my prep time was spent holding buckets unfortunately. But interview night, theres a bottle of baileys with my name on it. The day after the interview that I took off thinking I could pick up the visas is now dubbed hangover recovery day. Until then, I will continue making my friends, family, and fiance think I've lost my ever loving mind. Back to the regular scheduled worrying, over anything and everything, including the really idiotic worry that I will throw up on the consular officer due to nerves.
