Hello - I filed a petition for my brother and his family to come to the US from Iran about 14 years. Last June, they finally got their interview, which was in the US Embassy in Yerevan. For one year now, their case has been undergoing "administrative processing." My understanding is that this process normally takes about 60 days or less, but can take an indefinite period of time. When we've contacted the embassy, they just say that it is being processed and don't provide any useful information.

Does anyone have any more information on this process? Anything that can be done other than waiting?

Also, is their file still being reviewed in Armenia, or has it gone to some other agency? If so, is there any way to contact that agency or any other agency to get more information?

Thanks for your help.

No one knows how long AP will be. It depends on what questions they have and how long it will take them to find the answers. There is no way to get any answers, they won't even say what they were looking for after the approval or denial comes. Its a waiting game and there's really nothing you can do about it. One year is not unusual either. Little is really known about what goes on with AP, just that they need some answers before they make a decision, and how long it takes is anyone's guess. There is no usual 60 days. If I were you, I'd review what others are going through in the regional forums that cover that part of the world.
