I sent the notarized I-134 to my fiance by DHL, along with a letter from employer, 2 pay stubs (2 different employers, changed jobs between filing) 3 months of bank statement summaries and transcripts of my 2004 & 2005 tax returns. I thought it was a good amounth of information for the embassy to review. My fiance had no problems at all in this respect. We had a delay in the issuance of the visa because they asked for a document stating that she was free to marry. She had to obtain this document and send it to the embassy. 2 weeks later they issued the visa.

Do you know what of the info they actually looked at versus what she had avaialble? Did they specifically ask for the I-134 or did she just offer it up immediately?

YMMV

JUST get Ukraine PC, I mean how will embassy know the difference? They will have no clue. Besides she was student and still Ukraine citizen. Also remember to get the PC translated to English or they will not accept it. They will want both Ukrainian version of PC original and the translated version and I do believe they will want to keep that original Ukrainian PC.

They will know if they look at her internal passport (propiska sp?) This documents show the citizens life history and current status of children, marriage, etc.... if I am not mistaken..... Remember we are dealing with a former soviet state that has only been independent for 15 years. Many things (such as identification documents) are still carry overs from that era.

My Fiancee had her interview in December and they did not ask for her internal passport. Do not take it in with you! The people at the 'paperwork window' are Ukrainian nationals and would recognize what it is, don't risk it. Take only the International Passport... Good luck

No longer in the hands of the USCIS, for my wife at least, next up MIL.

Yeah. Don't even mess with the internal stuff. The US doesn't care. Show them an international passport.

FWAGUY, what do you mean? Your girlfriend should be able to get her police certificate for Ukraine at her local oblast government office(like county courthouse/police station), but she better take money for bribe/tip or know someone, cause things move mighty slow in Ukraine and with lots of mistakes sometimes on documents, and honestly I have found from my own personal experiences in Ukraine lot of people expect to be bribed/tipped or paid . ALSO, not 100% certain, but I think the police certificate is only good for like 10 days or so before Kiev interview so better have your girlfriend check on that, I will ask mine and let you know, but pretty sure of that fact.

I notice embassy at Kiev is not real thorough with email replies, just answer what they want to and let you scratch your head and say but you did not answer the entire question.

Too bad I would think they would tell you what you needed to do on Police Certificate.

So is your fiancee from Ukraine originally? I mean would not think that would have anything to do with police certificate. Sorry but could you give me more detailed info about this and I will check with mine, she said she had it under control and knew what to do to get her police certificate or record no problem. Be glad to help you.

My fiancee is originally from Odessa and currently lives in Kherson. I am not worried about the PC's from Ukraine. I am worried about her PC from her time spent in Moldova when she attended university. She would have to travel to Chisinau to get the PC because they are not available locally or from the Moldovian Consulate in Kiev. Police certificates are valid for longer than 10 days (Maybe 6 mos.?)but the consulate HOWEVER wants them from a recent time.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Police Certificates are valid for ONE YEAR for past residences. ie: she lived in Odessa but now lives in Kiev, However as you stated the PC from her current residence should be from a more recent time. I would think under 90 days but that only my guess.

Technically Ukraine government says 30 days is all they will accept PC for and accept as valid. According to USA embassy they state 180 days prior to interview is all they accept. I would email embassy or call them to make certain and verify it.

my fiancee says it will take like several weeks to get her police report...how could you possibly coordinate within 10 days receiving PC and the interview???

Wonder, does it matter if she needs that PC in Romania, I mean she was only student there and not citizen. That just sounds like tough situation, are you sure she has to do that, I guess you and your girlfriend already checked on that though, I mean I do not know on this situation. ARE sure she has to have PC from Romania? Would they even keep a PC on her being a student? AND hey like I said if so, take extra money for tips. ;)

I am 99% sure it is 10 days maybe 20/30 for valid Ukraine PC but I know it is not 6 months, I mean they could commit a lot of crime in that 6 month time period before interview at embassy, joking of course with you, but that is how those feds think at embassy so get used to it.

You can't. You need to interpret for yourself what the following says. I have heard 90 days but I cannot verify.

From KEV-1 instructions:

A certificate issued by the police authorities where you now reside must be of recent date when presented to the consular officer.

YMMV
