I just got an email today from the embassy in Tunisia, my fiances country. They have given us an interview date a week from today and instructed us to collect a birth certificate and police certificate translated into English. Collecting these documents and translating them will take at least 2 weeks. This came by surprise as we have been waiting for checklists and forms to be sent to my fiance and have yet to receive anything. Do we need to print the forms ourselves or are they sending them to us now? How do we reschedule our interview? This is all happening too fast and it has caught us off guard. Please help! :/

You should create a timeline so that we can see the process and understand your situation better.

Since you are a new member within last few weeks, are you a lucky person

who's case is being processed super fast?

It's odd that they scheduled interview without even sending your fiancee the packet 3.

There is more than just police and birth certificates that you will need for K1 visa approval.

I would contact the embassy and discuss with them.

I work 65 hours a week and do not have time to create a timeline, yes our process is moving very fast, we have been very lucky! According to the k1 visa timeline the embassy is supposed to send my fiance checklists and forms to be filled out and sent back to the embassy before they give us an interview date. I replied to the email sent by the chief at the embassy explaining my situation. Im hoping he will get back to me soon.

I don't understand, what do I do next? I emailed the embassy explaining my situation. How can they give me an interview date without having sent my fiance packet 3? How do I reschedule the interview to a later date?

Read the Guides and Follow the Example Forms.

Email the Embassy for a new interview date if needed. The documents you referenced you don't have should have been known by you as required a long time ago.

The timeline states that the embassy will contact my fiance once they have processed his application. He has not been contacted. It also states that they will send him a checklist and forms, some which need to be filled out and sent back right away and some he will have to bring with him to the interview. This, I believe is packet 3. He has not received any word from the embassy nor have they sent him anything in the mail. How is is possible for them to give us an interview date without having sent or received required documents or any word from either me or my fiance? Thank you for your patience and help!

Well, if you had the time to read other threads here on VJ you'd find that many times the Embassies do not send the documents (or maybe they did and they were never received) that's why it is suggested for anyone to download the required, up to date forms, on their own and be prepared.

The Police certs can take a month or more and are suggested to be obtained once NOA2 is obtained. BCs and translations should be relatively quick to obtain.

All is not lost and the interview can easily be rescheduled.

Thank you, thats very helpful! I only wish that info had been included in the step by step and timeline instead of hidden in threads on the forum. Is there a list somewhere of what exact forms the embassy will require for the interview? And can some of them be filled out and sent in online? He filled out the ds-160 at least a month ago when we got notice the I-129f was being sent to the embassy yet they asked in the email I recieved from them today that he fill it out.

Also, I can just simply call the embassy tomorrow and reschedule the interview? How far out can I schedule it? Is 2 months too long?

I will private message you and give you the forms for packet 3 that I received from someone who just went through the Tunis Embassy.

That isn't possible because each country requires different things. A quick forum search would have cleared this up for you.

I sent an email back to the chief whom originally emailed me the interview date telling him our situation and how we needed to reschedule and that we still needed to collect a police certificate and translated birth certificate. He just responded back to me this morning saying that it was okay if my fiance does not have all required documents and that he can bring them on another date. He said just to make sure that the medical is scheduled ahead of time. This means that he doesn't think it's necessary to reschedule. The interview is in 6 days! We are so excited and nervous! Although we did want to avoid making more than one trip to Tunis As it is hours away from the town my fiance lives in.

This seems too good to be true!!!!
