Notifying USCIS that marriage has been finalized

Hello everyone,

I have another probably rather simple question to be answered but I always feel more comfortable hearing responses from fellow VJers.

Apart from filing for AOS with the I-485, is it necessary to notify USCIS that the marriage has officially taken place within 90 days?

Or if we chose to wait to file for the AOS then could we just notify them somehow that we have been officially married? Thank you very much for your help!

You don't have to notify the USCIS that you got married. Just file for AOS and get that going.

No need to notify uscis of your marriage. It goes without saying when you apply with AOS.

Agreed, the requisite submission of your certified marriage license with your AOS application is the official notification required by USCIS.

You are letting them know you married within 90 days when you file your AOS.

The I-485 requires you to send a copy of your marriage certificate(not license) that you receive from the court once your marriage is registered. This is how they know when you married and that you married within the 90 days. http://www.visajourney.com/content/k1k3aos
