Check with your local State Department of Motor Vehicle. All states have a website that will provide you with the answers to many of your questions plus if needed the materials to pass your test. Requirements are different depending which license you are pursuing.

It looks like you are in North Carolina so follow this link http://www.ncdot.gov/dmv/driver/license/#documents otherwise if you in another state search for their DMV website.

Should be no problem, but like Greenbaum says, check with your state's DMV on their website before you waste your time.

Do you have a license already in Philippines? That is something to consider because if you get a new license, you are considered an inexperienced driver, and your husband's car insurance premium will likely go up because of what they regard as a new risk.

My wife had never drove before in her life, got her license and insurance never changed... two years now. I think age is a bigger consideration ;)

Happy to hear that Hank because Candy wants to drive, and I can ill afford a rate increase. They already charge an obscene fortune in New York.

I can only imagine what they charge in N.Y, nothing is cheap there. I found insurance to be nasty in Arizona as well, it was 50% higher than want I was paying in Minnesota before I moved down here.

When Candy saw my ITR for the first time, her jaw dropped. As I am sure you well know, it is an incomprehensible amount of money for someone living in a Philippine province.

I then told her that if she wants her jaw to drop faster, all she needs to do is wait and see how fast that money gets spent here. She is here now for 7 days and is starting to get the idea.

I believe every state has somewhat different requirements. In South Dakota you can't get a drivers license

without the green card. So, I will not bother with the ssn until the green card comes, its hard for me to

get off work and by waiting a few months for the green card to come is just fine with us.
