When I watched the video my initial thought was "why doesn't she just roll down the window?" Then I read on with the lawyers comments etc. It seems we've been programmed over time to do whatever cops tell us just because they're cops. Pretty sad actually.

That's sorta the point. If cops only make reasonable and LEGAL requests then we, as the general public should comply without undue resistance. This request was not legal and reasonable hence he got into trouble. So the question is, is having the cop cam enough to ensure that the norm from cops is legal and reasonable requests, or like AJ suggests, is there a need to root out all the evil cops and set fire to them, in fact, what he actually said was; because the barrel is rotten, nuke the lot even though some of the apples may be ok ;)

Refusing to use the spellchick!

I have put you on ignore. No really, I have, but you are still ruining my enjoyment of this site. .

That cop should have ripped her out of the vehicle and arrested her for obstructing traffic. What an annoying biotch.

But he cannot, because she did nothing wrong, and was within her rights.

Never consent to a search. Never answer a question without an attorney present. Never allow a cop into your house. Three simple rules to live by that will save you TONS of grief.

(Mod hat very reluctantly on)

After reflection, and after research of a particular phrase & acronym, it seems necessary to edit part of a couple of posts and remove exact quotes thereof before returning everything to the thread, as follows:

It's a strange situation we're in as a civilization. We need cops to maintain the very order our entire civilization depends on. But most of our cops are dipshit morons (edited by VJ Moderation). I'm not sure how to resolve that. What do you do when the people who barely deserve to be alive are the people keeping you safe?

Post returned minus exact quote:

Well, they could try to ensure that cops are held accountable. Oh, look that's what the cop cam is for, and looks like it's doing its job. ;)

Post edited and returned to thread:

Yeah but that's a punitive measure, to some extent a deterrent measure. What we need is a preventive measure. We need smarter people to be cops (edited by VJ Moderation).

Returned minus quote:

Not all of the cops currently serving are dufuses. I am not sure it's possible to filter out all the dufus cops at the recruitment stage, and to be honest from what I heard from a friend who wanted to join, it's not exactly easy to get in which is a good thing, but certainly those that get through the recruitment process and then prove to be dufus should be monitored and sacked if they can't change their dufus ways.

Returned minus quote:

Have you had personal experience? The only interactions I have had with cops here, and there have been very, very few have been positive.

We need people with good ole' common sense, that exercise good judgement. But that type gets their arm twisted into looking the other way and remaining silent just to fit in and not rock the boat.

That cop is a first class f'ing azzhat.

The edits are because of this item in the VJ TOS: "Post Content intended to degrade, intimidate, or incite violence or prejudicial action against a broad demographic or group of people identified by a unifying trait or characteristic."

The edit is not meant to dismiss the strong feelings of the chief poster or to indicate personal disagreement with that strength of feeling; the issue is that the removed comments might be misunderstood by outside eyes. A PM exchange with the poster is encouraged, if he desires it.

Apologies to all that there's no ability here to edit posts and still leave them in their original place.

Fine job sir. I think the user revolt of 2014 is now over. :)

P.S. all that editing and 'cops are dipshit morons" made it through the filter ?

I'm not talking about the search part of it, I'm talking about her refusing to pull off to the side and get out of the flow of traffic. She was blocking traffic by refusing to pull over, she could have been arrested for obstructing a police officer, impeding an investigation and endangering the public. The cop wasn't asking her to do anything that was outside of her rights in that regard. That cop simply had no balls and was clueless.

The checkpoint was not at the border. It was many miles inside the border, they made her stop and becuse she would not show her papers and tell them where she was going, they wanted to detain and search her.

This is not Nazi Germany , where they just randomly walk up to people minding their own business and demand to see papers, and illegally search you if you don't tell them where you are going. It's none of a cops business where she is going. The key words "Am I being detained" they can not legally hold you if you are not being detained.

None of that matters in regards to what I said. She was impeding a law enforcement officer, and endangering public safety both are arrestable offenses no matter where you are or who the cop is.
