nvc - "its been forwarded to your consulate, your petition didnt go thru us"

Our NOA2 letter said the exact same thing, but it went to the NVC.

We were assigned a case number, but the NVC said they returned it to USCIS for some reason (but wouldn't tell us). USCIS said they never received the packet back from NVC. Its just reappeared after 4 months of USCIS and NVC pointing fingers at each other saying the other department had the packet. Not to scare you, but it might be lost between the USCIS / NVC just like ours was.

Hmmm great now I am worried! I just got mine in the mail (NOA2) minutes ago and it says the exact same "the above petition has been approved, and forwarded to the listed consulate, please contact the consulate with any questions about visa issuance" I thought it was being sent to the NVC?

I would advise you to wait for updates in the next week or so. As far as I can tell, the next update should be where they say it has been sent to NVC/DOS. The OP is way outside the normal window for having their petition sent to NVC. Try not to stress. I am sure yours will update and be sent. :)

lol....well how else do i ask for a tier 2 if they all say they dont know what that is

I would recommend you to call DOS rather than NVC, people at NVC doesnt know anything..try DOS, there very nice and will explain to you properly, plus very short wait time..we got our number three to four weeks after we were approved..in terms with the email thing with nvc, they will send you their answer two weeks after..

NOA2 letters are different depending on the service center. That's just omitting to mention that the case goes to NVC first on the version where it says it is forwarded to the consulate (bad wording). But all petitions go to NVC.

Never heard a petition not going thru nvc

the customer service ppl does not have info until

data is entered ...so speak to 2nd tier officer...CS will

just tell U whats on your letter....USCIS only validate

relationships re family mate etc & approve that, then

NVC is the one who does background cks & send

electronic files to your embassy

idk what to do really....9 weeks is way too long...this is really upsetting me. some of you say to rather keep on contacting the nvc and others say to contact the uscis. i guess there's no point to contact my embassy again to ask if they have it like the nvc guy told us to today. it's sad how they treat people really. we were so happy about being approved within a month but now it's been two months and the petition seems nowhere to be found, not where it should be at least. should of been already in my country by now.

This is the number we called last year, i dont know if its working now but you can try - 202-663-1225.(press 1 then 0)from Monday to Friday 830am to 5pm.if nvc received your docs, definitely DoS will know about it..we also try calling USCIS and we have the same reason that it will take some time for it to get into NVC..

The wording on the approval notices is confusing. They are sent to the consulate, but they go through the NVC on the way there. ALL of them go through the NVC. They do not stay at the NVC very long. They are assigned a case# and sent off to the appropriate consulate from there.

Your petition seems to be lost in some void. The NVC cannot help you because they have not received it yet. The USC petitioner needs to talk to the USCIS about where your case is. Insist on speaking to a tier 2 immigration officer that has access to your case information. They will get no real help or accurate answers from the person that answers the phone. They are not immigration officers and have no access to any of your actual case info. Let them know your case was approved at the CA service center and that your case has been missing for 9 weeks now, and that it never made it to the NVC or the consulate.

You are correct, we received our NOA 2 June 16 2014 and received an update that our petition was shipped to the DOS on June 19 2014 that is usually what happens from reading all the post on VJ and it also to us.
