That's interesting about California auto-expediting...I guess it's just luck of the draw that we got sent to them?

More likely because you were both out of country.

There used to be just California and Vermont doing the workload and both always auto-expedited couples who were both abroad. Then they had the NBC, who weren't ready yet and sent everything to local offices. Some offices were fast, some were slow (like Atlanta.) Then they started sending them all over the gosh darned place and right now I think as long as you don't end up at the Nebraska service center, you're okay. But goodness it would be nice to know again where the petitions are going!
