I am in the process of filing AOS. I think I probably need more than 2 photos because I am also filing EAD and AP. Today I went to Walmart and got my 2 passport photo done. They told me its illegal to print passport photos so I ended up getting only 2 of them! What can I do now? I am feeling extremly frustrated because there is no way for me to get more prints of photo other than paying 10 bucks extra for each print. This is so ridiculous!!!

i have never heard that. I printed passport pics for my passport renewal, my K3 and I130 applications without a problem. In fact, if it was illegal to print out passport pictures, there would need to be some way to verify that the pictures were genuine (which they do not have). What they may have meant is that it is illegal to duplicate professional pictures.

For all of my passport pictures, i have cropped one of my digital pictures and changed the background to white and printed them at a rite aid self service picture counter.

Do you have a digital camera? I hung a white sheet up on the wall and took a head shot of Hachemi. Make sure you are in a bright lit room and use your flash. Then take you memory card to the walmart picture maker. Choose the ID picture. You can edit the photo by zooming in or out to get the correct position. It will make 6 - 2x2 photos

The person at Walmart is an idiot.

Fork over the $10 and be done with it.

What she told us is its against FEDERAL LAW to make copies of "passport photos" and so is "passports"! I guess we are not allowed to make a copy of anything? This sounds dumb to me. She took away the pictures I printed out from the machine and she shredded it right away. We were unhappy and left. I came home and scan my "passport photo" that I just took at the portrait center and made them into 6 the same photo on one 4x6 print and went back to walmart. Guess what? She (photo center) saw us printing them out and said she cant let us do that since the "photo" has copyright. She changed her story again~~~We already talked to the lady (portait center) who took photo for us and she said there is nothing wrong with making prints on our own. The one who works at photo center insisted that its illegal to do so......After their discussion, she decided to let us have the prints. (She still told us that they might lose their job if someone finds out ....) Well, it took us at least 2-3 hours to "get the picture" done. Is it funny?

My digital camera broke down so I really have no choice other than going to walmart. If you need more than 2 photos, you better to take a picture on your own.

Wal-mart is the only place to get photos? Couldn't you a) pay the extra fee or b go somewhere else?

That sounds like a bizarre law. Passport photos here in the US don't seem to be anything special (in Canada they need to be dated, stamped and signed by the photo place ((if to be used for a passport))). It's not illegal to copy a passport (as far as I know, seeing as USCIS wanted a copy of the passport), so I don't see how a passport style photo (that can be used for various things), would be illegal to copy. Glad you managed to get the photos anyway.

We went to Walgreens for our photos and were able to get more then just 2 passport photos. Sorry you had the bad luck of dealing with an idiot, as if you were gonna go out and tell everyone all over town that she made you copies

I also checked a photo service place in town and they said the same thing to us too. Its illegal to make copies of "any passport photos". Even though I explained my situation to them that I am going to use it as application of AOS, they still would not do it for us. Its just amazing that person who works at walmart photo center was accusing us of making copies of our own photos. She just said that they were told to do so. She did change her attitude when my husband started to record our conversation. huh~~ Oh well, we finally got photos we need and will never go back there again hopefully! Thanks for all of your supports!

Go to Walgreens or CVS - those women are IDIOTS.

It is illegal to make a COLOR COPY OF THE PAGES OF A PASSPORT, not passport pics.

I didn't like the fact walgreens charged the same for every two prints, eventhough it was only one photo taken there! I went home and scanned one phota and made 15 copies on one 8.5 X 11 sheet of glossy photo paper, the layout was an option on the printer! I am no expert, but the paper was free with the printer! When I was in China to get married, I took a photo of my wife, when I returned to the U. S. to file the I-130 and I-129 F, I cropped the photo and did the same thing for her photos, I have mailed her copies to use for the K-3.
