Hi guys,

could anyone explain me this mystery statement please:

<applicants will not be required to meet the vaccination requirements at the time of the visa interview.>

next

<The medical examination must take place before the visa interview.>

This has been copied from this page: http://london.usembassy.gov/immigrant-visas/medical-examination.html

Now my question is,

don't they made all necessary procedures and ALL SHOTS which are required? Or not?

The medical exam cost £245. Does it include everything?

Thank you,,,

Hey, K visas, vaccines are optional,. like it says..

On the day of the medical examination, the physician will be required to verify that the immigrant visa applicant has met the vaccination requirement, or that it is medically inappropriate for the applicant to receive them. Note: K visa applicants will not be required to meet the vaccination requirements at the time of the visa interview. They will, however, be required to meet the requirements at the time they apply for an adjustment of status with the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services.

Because of a system issue I couldn´t get the vaccines at the day of the medical examination, but I wanted them, they kept telling me its optional etc..so I managed my way back in and got them today, Why? because it will be for me one less form to fill out for the AOS. If you don´t get the vaccines, then you have to find a civil surgeon to give you the missing shots and pay some fee. If money its not an issue and you are healthy etc, get the vaccines.

Good luck!

Do it now, free, US you pay.

White Bear--FILL OUT YOUR TIMELINE. List the visa type.

Read this thread. The first post discusses immunizations and answers your question about the statement. http://www.visajourney.com/forums/topic/474161-london-k1-a-complete-guide/

You have a choice:

1) Get the shots free on National Health before going to the medical exam and be signed off by the doctor at Knightsbridge as done with immunizations.

2). Wait until you get to the US. Pay over $100 for the shots. Call 10 civil surgeons trying to find one who won't make you pay to take the whole medical exam again. Spend an additional $100+ to pay the doctor to fill out a new immunization form because you didn't get it done when you had the chance in the UK. If you get real lucky, maybe he will only charge $50 for filling out your form. If you are not knowledgeable (which you aren't) a doctor could charge you $250 for his fee plus additional for a TB test and immunizations.

TB test is the x ray in London is it not, which is included in the price.

If you are a K1 visa and we do not know this, you do not have to have them done but you will for AoS so either

a: get them done on the NHS or

b: get them done when you have your medical which will be about £35 a go.

Or wait til you get to the US and get shafted

Thank you,

How beneficiary can justify that she needs those shots?

Say, beneficiary can potentially go to NHS and ask them to make those shots? But GP in NHS probably will ask why do you want all those shots. Right?

Should beneficiary tell them that it is for emigration (K 1) procedures? Or tell something else?

Thank you...

Yes they should tell them, why not, it will not be a GP most likely but a nurse. Worst that can happen is they will charge for them. Personally i think they should charge, why should the NHS fund someones immigration.

Still be cheaper than getting them done at the medical or in the US.

So, and it should be total four shots? Correct?

1. Td or Tdap - Tetanus/diptheria/pertussis or get DT, DTP or DtaP

2. MMR - (if born in 1957 or later)-Mumps/measles/rubella.

3. Varicella

4. Influenza – Required during flu season only

Took it from Nick's London K1. A complete guide http://www.visajourney.com/forums/topic/474161-london-k1-a-complete-guide/

Is it full list? Total four shots?

Yes to MMR if you have no childhood record or doctor file showing you had 2 MMR shots already in your life.

Yes to Tdap or version of it if it's been 10 years since you had one or you have no childhood record to prove it.

Varicella shot is not really available in the UK. Be sure to tell the person going over your shots at the visa medical "I have had Chickenpox". Then they mark the form that you don't need Varicella shot, but you must tell them.

Flu shot. If you have your visa exam before October 1, then you don't need a flu shot because it isn't flu season. They mark your sheet as "not flu season" as the reason that shot is not required.

So you probably only need the first two listed if you have no written proof of already having those as a child. Don't make a doctor appointment for shots. See the shot nurse, practice nurse or travel nurse. I don't know what she would be called, but she can give the needed shots and give you a paper showing you had them. Your UK practice won't know the term K1 visa or the requirements because they don't study US immigration. Just say what shots you need because of getting a visa and travelling.
