So what did the girlfriend, gun and granddaughter have to do with being irresponsible? If the pit bulls were his, that was irresponsible leaving them loose so they could enter the trailer. But were the dogs his? I haven't seen this stated anywhere.

I don't know what they did or didn't do, but I can safely say they failed to protect a toddler.

But that wasn't your point when you made your previous post. The real issue of irresponsibility is if the dogs were the grandfathers and roaming around freely outside of the trailer so that they were able to burst inside. If the dogs weren't his, what did he do wrong, own a gun? Have a girlfriend? Live in a trailer?

Suppose someone broke into your house and shot your daughter. Would you be the one assuming responsibility? Would it be on you and your wife for not protecting a child from an unforeseen incident? How about if you were walking down the sidewalk and a car came across two lanes of traffic and hit your daughter who was walking on the sidewalk away from the street side? Your fault too? I know, that's probably different since you don't own a gun. If the dogs were his, he was negligent. If they weren't, what do YOU think he did wrong? Owned a gun?

the article says dumbass aka grandpa was keeping 10 pit bulls in his yard at the time of the incident. idk but, I doubt he had 10 pet pits.

from the article: 'According to Simpson County Sheriff Kenneth Lewis, Donald Mullins was keeping 10 pit bulls at his home at the time of the attack.'

I'm bad, I read a couple of other articles on the incident and didn't read the entire one in the OP. So Grandpa is totally at fault for this. Probably fighting dogs if I was to venture a guess. I'm also guessing that a couple of users posted because of the gun where the problem of being irresponsible was the dogs. Now what needs to be done is ban poodles.

Most of the articles don't mention that gramps owned the dogs.

Suppose we get back to what actually took place. Yes, to answer your question, it is the responsibility of the adults to protect their children.

imho: we need to ban idiots from having access to dangerous breeds

Amen. We need to stop ownership of poodles right away, I say add pugs to the list. Those bug eyes and teeth hanging out. Nobody has any business with a Pug.

A butterfly can have the worst intentions but it is no threat so I could care less what its attitude or disposition is.. When I look at the stats for deaths and serious injuries the Pitbull has more in two weeks that the poodle has since the beginning of time... We could exchange some victim pictures if you would like and make some comparisons.

I saw a death recorded from a beagle when a toddler got a leash around its neck.

Now if they cross that poodle with a Pitbull then I say end that atrocity - besides I've never seen anything crossed with a poodle that comes out better looking.

There is a very clear analogy in that statement, that makes so much sense, if an ANTI-GUN loon should be able to get it

I figured you'd dodge it. Your main point was the guy had a gun, therefore it was an accident waiting to happen. It's OK, just admit it.

gramps is an aholio for having 10 pit bulls and a 'tardo for putting his grand-daughter at risk, even for a small moment in time .

Here's hoping the pit bulls are taken away, charges filed, and the trailer burned to the ground.

Yes, I really feel that way. Massive example of moral decay - Thanks Spooks [and others] for digging...

Pugs make super-great guard dogs - that's what the chinese folk bred them for...
