Packet 3 sent to Juarez, Mexico Consulate...any ideas on time?

My husband and I sent in packet (or package?) three last week to the consulate in Juarez, Mexico. BTW, we didn´t send a cover letter...I just didn´t think about it, does anyone think that´s a problem? My real question, though, is about time, any ideas on how long it could be before we hear back from them - before they set an interview date? And, knowing the slightly unreliable (read: very unreliable) postal system here in Mexico, what if we don´t get the packet or notice in the mail?

What did you file for? CRI interviews are taking between 10-14 months to be scheduled. K3s, 4-6 months.

We filed for a CR1...wow, seems like so long! I´m so ready to go home! Will they send something that says they got the packet, or will they not send anything until the interview is scheduled? I´m worried about not getting a notification in the mail...it´s not so reliable.

I'm confused b/c your profile says DCF - does that just mean your I-130 was adjudicated in Mexico City rather than the US and then forwarded to CDJ as you both live in MX?

In any event, you're in for a long wait :( - they are incredibly backlogged. You can email them in about 8 months to request a status - I believe they will both email and snail mail the official appointment packet.

That´s right, we both live here in Guanajuato, Mexico, and we sent the I-130 to the USCIS office in Mexico City (per the website, they said we could send it by mail - DHL, actually), and it was sent to Juarez. I called the Mex city office about 6 weeks after sending it in, and they said they had sent us a notification that the case had been forwarded to Juarez...but we never got that notification.

I don´t know that my e-mail is on any of the forms, and since we didn´t send a cover letter (ups), I´m guessing they have no way to send us e-mail...do you think there´s any way to remedy that?

Is your case through Juarez too? How long have you been waiting or did you wait?

I would send them an email first and ask if they can be sure to notify you of your appointment date via email as well as via snail mail. No guarantee (they are not the brightest) but worth a try. Plus, if you e-mail them monthly or on a regular basis, no doubt one day they'll respond with your appt date.

We went the K1 route for exactly this reason . . . it takes too long for a CR1 appointment! At least you saved several months on the adjudication of the I-130 so that's a positive!

Lots of info in the CDJ thread. Most of it pertains to K1s but it still might interest you:

I don't have an answer for you but I just wanted to say that I used to shop in Juarez every weekend! I grew up on the East side of El Paso, Tx!
