We're approved too! Just checked status, and there is "On January 7, 2015, we ordered your new card..."

Yay, done with USCIS for another year (Naturalization is the next step).

Thanks. I agree with u. Im just concerned b/c the postman who delivers our posts is the worst and has put our mails on other mailboxes several times. I wonder in this 21 century why still people even use the post service when they can use emails. Would USCIS update our status on their website if they send us an RFE or transfer notice?

Ouch! Report the issue to the post office every time it happens. The postman/lady HAS to deliver the mail correctly. A USCIS letter is no joke so they HAVE to get it right. I know mistakes happen but it should not become a routine. Yes, the USCIS updates the status if there is an RFE or transfer or any change in your status but I've had the experience that for transfers they sent me the mail first and the website update was made way after the letter. So, the website is not as reliable as the mail of course.

I would worry more about your mail situation. Not just for USCIS but how if you get a bill and because of the confusion of boxes... you don't get to pay it on time. That is a real problem.

Has anyone looked at what the critical step is in the process to approval? Is it the NOA1 date or the Biometric date? Looking at the data collected so far for September, it seems that the critical date is more the NOA1 date that best predicts your approval, and not the date of the biometrics. Does anyone know if that follows in the past data collected?

The reason I am bringing this up is that there seems to be an urgency from a lot of individuals to have an early bio, but it does not seem that this helps....it may be a point of interest for future submitters.

Neither NOA1 or Biometrics affect the approval date. NOA1 simply means that USCIS got your application and at the first glance it seems to be moslty ok (filed in allowed time period, has main application form and correct payment). It happens whenever USCIS officer will open your envelope to backstock content for later review and process payment, and it doesn't affect how soon you will be approved, or called for interview, or sent RFE request. Biometrics don't affect anything about approval, it's simply fingerprints and photo, it doesn't matter if you do them early or not. Some people doing it early just to get it out of their way or because they happen to be around USCIS office earlier than appointment date. There is absolutely no reason to rush with biometrics, it will not make anything faster.
