We've received our NOA1 letter in the mail today dated 10/01. :-)

I'm getting a bit discouraged. We sent our application on Sep. 22nd. It arrived on Sep. 24th and I have not seen check cashed in our bank account, nor have we received any NOA. I used certified mail and got the green return card saying it got there, but have heard absolutely nothing. Can I call on it? What would I even ask if I did...

It was sent to California Service Center.

Hi MK & M!

Since no one seem to respond to you, I'll try-although won't be a too smart one either. I would say go ahead and give it a try calling them. Either they will turn you down, or they might going to tell you they never got it, in which case you might want reassure them that by the tracking number it has been delivered. That'll force them to check after your case at the very last. Sorry to hear this, but it also might be that they are just super backlogged. As you see the CSC seems slower this time than VSC since earlier this year VSC sent a bunch of applicants stuff over to CSC since they were behind. Now, CSC is dealing with all those, plus their own applicants. :/ Good luck!

CSC seems to have turned its attention to helping VSC with it's backlog lately! A simple phone call to a USCIS tier 2 agent wouldn't hurt! Let us know what you find out! Good luck

Friends! I have a question. My NOA1 date is 9/22. However, I still havent recieved my biometrics appointment letter. Should I call USCIS and ask them about it? It seems like even people whose NOA1 date was after me have already gotten it. Should I call USCIS or wait for a few more days?

Hey waiting_for_aos: Do not worry. Both service centers are back logged for some reason. Just because you have a few people who have their bio, overall if you look at both centers, most of us did not got our bio either. My NOA for example was 9/8 and no word regarding bio appointment at all. 2 more days and it's been a month. Both centers are super back logged, so I have a feeling our bios are going to be "current" and we will not be getting a bio appointment (unless they speed up and in a week or two they are back to their normal schedule). There's one approved ROC case for July filers...the rest of them (although done with biometrics) are still waiting for approval....that's how far we are from being processed...

Thank you for your encouraging words! It's a relief to hear them. My last biometrics was done on 8/20/2012. That's more than two years ago. Do you think my bio can still be current? Don't bio expire after 18 months or something?

@waiting_for_aos: same here...mine was all back then. And yes, you are right, technically they expire, but in practice it is not uncommon that when the service centers are hammered with paperwork they waive the biometrics to speed up the process and to be able to try to crawl back to the normal time frames....hence, although they won't refund our bio payment, but they'll just say our bio is current. We should wait another month, and if still nothing, we can then call them up and they will likely tell us that your bio is current. Then we can request a case number so that we could check our cases online. Patience, and all the best! It'll be over one day!
