Hi everybody,

I live in France and got a job offer in California, i can't apply for h1b for various reasons so i would like to apply for 01b,

I think i could enter this category but my situation is really specific so getting a little advice before trying to hire a lawyer or anything would be great.

I'm a video editor/videographer that achieved international recognition (internet) in the skateboarding realm the last 4 years, beside the website that wants to hire me i already have several offers for free lance jobs on the side too.

I have a lot of web published material, worked with some of the best companies, had some videos used in events or art shows in the US and Europe, and i can get commandation letters from high ranked people and journalist in this industry.

Now being recognized as one the best in my field of work (within the relatively small skateboarding world),i would be thankful to have advice whether this case at this scale could stand any chance for o1?

Also if it's possible for an alien to have a main employer and work freelance on the side in California?

and if so..if you could point me towards good lawyers in the San Diego/Carlsbad area

Thank you

Is there a reason you are not comfortable with your prospective Employers Lawyer?

You would be authorized to work ONLY for the company that petitioned for your O1 visa.....no freelancing. "International recognition" is not necessarily the same thing as being world renowned in your field -- that might be an uphill battle to prove that for video editing. You need to rely on the advice of the company's lawyer. This likely isn't a case you can build on your own.

You have extraordinary achievement in motion picture or television industry, So you are eligible to apply o_1 Visa. Most of the applicants rejected at the documentation process. Its highly recommend take Immigration lawyer for better results.
Don't do freelance works, that can careate new problems. As a photographer just click with interest basis, but not for work purpose.
