Hi everyone!

I was recently approved at my k1interview and am looking ahead to the AOS process.

What the total cost for the entire process (I-485, EAD, AP)?

Is it necessary to apply for Advance Parole?

If I don't, what limitations will be placed on me in terms of travel?

Approximately how long before I can work?

Approximately how long does the AOS process take?

I know these answers are easily searchable, but I'd love if someone could give me the entire low-down right here. :D

Thank you so much,

Rachel

The total cost is $1070, when filing for I-485 EAD and AP is included so you might as well apply. Hope that guides you, there is a pinned thread at the top of the forum here that will help you.

Thank you!!!

Is it necessary to apply for Advance Parole? No. But why would you not get it when it's free when filing to adjust and can be done at the same time as your request for an EAD? It's better to have it and not need it rather than need it and not have it.

If I don't, what limitations will be placed on me in terms of travel? If you leave the US without AP or a green card, you will not be allowed back to the US without an appropriate visa - most likely a spousal visa which will take 12-18 months.

Approximately how long before I can work? It takes about 3 months to get the AP/EAD combo card after you file to adjust.

Approximately how long does the AOS process take? Typically, anywhere from 4-12 months.

I know these answers are easily searchable, but I'd love if someone could give me the entire low-down right here. :D

Hi Rachel.

FIle for AP. It's the smart move since it's free. You never know if you need it to return home for an emergency

AP (like EAD) is only optional, but since as of late, GCs are approved up to a year, it is highly advisable for AOS applicants to apply for EAD and AP, since the cost for these are waived anyway.

AP allows you to re-enter US, if you intend to travel internationally.

EAD and AP currently takes up to 90 days.

Edit: Yes, as what Aaron said. :D

The OP has a K-1. Different process, and different costs, than concurrent I-130 and I-485 application.
