Thought it would be a good idea for a thread for those of us who watch the world cup.

Anyone watching Mexico VS Cameroon?

The Dutch were good.

The Spanish, in particular Iker Casillas, the goalkeeper, had an absolute shocker. :o

That was a fun game to watch - unless you were rooting for Spain. The way Robben and van Persie ran laps around the Spanish defense was nothing short of perfection. Very well done.

Interesting stat on NPR about the importance of winning the first game:

Teams that won their first time made the next round 90% of the time

Teams with a tie in the first game made the next round 50% of the time

Teams that lose the first game make the second round under 10% of the time.

Yet the last World Cup winners lost their opening game. ;)

Nervous about England V Italy tomorrow. As long as we give a better account of ourselves than we did at the last world cup I'll be happy though.
