and yet, whatever problems he is facing is NOT MY RESPONSIBILITY, nor that of any other American citizen....it is not my fault nor the fault of any other American citizen that Venezuela is a country that is, well, a cesspool....sorry...but I cannot fix it, nor is it the moral obligation of the citizens of the US of A to 'right some wrong' somewhere in the world....no Venezuelan is offering meaningful employment to some American citizen who is out of work...why do any of us owe some standard of living to somebody who is a citizen of another country? (cannot think of one single reason)....you may think I am heartless, mean, uncaring, or whatever....but I don't care what YOUR opinion is...all I know is that the US is MY country, not that of some random citizen of Venezuela, Honduras, Outer Bum Phuqque Mongolia, or wherever....it is MY country, with its own laws, and.....our focus should be on our own citizens, not people who are not citizens of the US of A, who have not paid a penny in taxes, not joined our military, etc, but who somehow believe that they are entitled to some largesse courtesy of the US taxpayer....nope....not gonna happen....

I would point back to the decision making process, ages past, when both were in the USA and suggest that you chose a different path.

and it's THAT decision, that is kicking yer backside these last few years.

I can't help you to change yer decision-making process - I can only point out that one point in time when you took a different path..

Least according to the news. Hire a coyote to sneak you across the border into like a refugee camp. Another older way is to come here on a raft, sure worked for the Cubans.

If they can find any relative, distant or not, will send you to that relative, if not, you go back.

Since we are experiencing extreme delays trying to doing this legally, wondering if this is an alternative method. But do have several questions about this procedure as to what happens afterwards.

Are these people issued a green card?

Does that relative have to show sufficient funds to be approved for an I-864?

And what about huge medical expenses for that I-693 to make sure communicable diseases are not brought into this country. Or are the taxpayers paying for this procedure?

Did watch this segment intensely since we are trying to bring an unmarried child here from that hell hole called Venezuela. Writing to Obama was of no hope. Maybe he just likes illegals.

Are you asking us to advise you on how to break the law? I don't think you've come to the right place.

There's a man who works in my building doing maintenance. He's from Honduras. A very honorable man, lots of integrity and very hard worker. He's here legally. But he left his wife behind, because at the time they were thinking about getting divorced. Later he realized he wanted to be with her. So he decided to pay a coyote $5,000 to bring her across the border this past February. I wish he had told me beforehand as I would have strongly advised him against it. Anyway, she was caught and arrested and sent to immigration prison within 24 hours. She was there for a couple of weeks while he hired a lawyer to sort things out. Of course the lawyer failed (after taking more of his money), and they sent her straight back four weeks after she arrived. And now she's banned. So, good luck with your plan.

I just have a hard time accepting that our military men and women wait for not days or weeks but months for just an appointment to see a doctor. And they are refused basic needs.

But it's not as though "if but for immigrant costs, we would have enough money to care for our wounded vets". Our government wastes a staggering amount of money that could put to better use, and our treatment of wounded veterans is a scandal that stretches back to the time of George Washington. The two are not connected. And if we permanently closed the borders tomorrow, or threw them wide open, or if we found out the moon was made of gold, none of this would change how vets are treated. And that needs to change.

OP I hope your wife gets reunited with her loved ones, sooner rather than later.

Wow, I at times felt lost due to seeing so many illegals get here; while my husband is in the back of the line. The early bird gets the worm, apparently U.S. doesn't care what kind of early bird you are. I just want my husband, good luck to you

Can read about it here:

http://travel.state.gov/content/dam/visas/Statistics/Immigrant-Statistics/WaitingListItem.pdf

With different priorities depending upon the relationship to that family member you are trying to get here. With limits based on a per region basis.

When you see on the news that illegals are coming here by the hundreds and placed in refugee camps. Are even given bus fare if they do have any kind of relative in the US that would take them. Kind of gets upsetting, when you paid all of your fees, and waiting forever to bring even a close family member here.

I agree that our government spends money with little regard for long term consequences....how much money (and lives) has been wasted in Iraq and Afghanistan? For what purpose? Illegal immigration also has a cost...medical bills, educational costs for illegal children, wages depressed in many industries (construction, for example), and crime rates rising in many cities when illegals cannot find 'regular' unauthorized employment, they may well turn to other activities....the whole thing is out of whack....and then, as we read earlier, there are those whose relatives are currently waiting their turn to immigrate legally while outside of the US, yet are watching those who have thumbed their noses at our laws getting a free pass.....that is definitely wrong. Our entire focus is backwards....we need to take care of our own first before even thinking about reaching into our pockets to help others.....

I am ex-military, served our government in a strong capacity after 9/11 and have paid taxes since I was 12. For everyone one of you that are going through the immigration process you have my respect, both you and your spouse. You are doing the right thing. Once your spouse arrives they deserve the respect of any American. This country was built on immigration (mostly legal) and it is part of our history and heritage. Unless you are Native American, you came from somewhere else. That is part of what makes our country so great. Avoid the negative comments, as well as the temptation of a quick reward. Thank you for being patient, for wanting to live here and for eventually contributing to our society.

IMO people that choose citizenship are special. People born here did not have a choice, and you did. To me? That is as good, if not better, than natural born. Because you made a conscious decision and chose. And once you do pass your citizenship test? You deserve the same respect just like any other natural born American. I have seen a lot of bigotry and racism (especially toward immigrants) in my life and I can't stand it. Even more so, now that I have a Latina wife. If you came here legally and are contributing to our society? You are good with me.

People choose US citizenship for many variety reasons

Loyalty? Perhaps...

But what is the use of having US citizenship if one does not bother to integrate with the US society?

IMHO, US is giving out citizenship far too easy to anyone who can pass citizenship test.

allowing unfettered access to the US by every child who is unhappy with their lot in life will only result in diseases arriving by the carload, huge tax burdens on the American taxpayer, etc....why allow this? The US of A does NOT owe a decent standard of living and free education and medical bennies to the entire planet...ship those brats home....otherwise, guess what happens next? Yep...their irresponsible parents will be given some sort of status so the family can be reunited...and the US of A rapidly spirals down into third world status.

OR we could have immigration reform and have these people be able to get jobs, pay taxes and contribute to the economy and not be such a 'drain' as you so eloquently put it. Grow a brain. The system is broken the way it stands, and instead or resisting change, you should embrace it and create a system that recognizes the reality that people are going to come to the USA either way.

There will never be Comprehensive Immigration Reform, there are far too many issues that would need to be addressed.

Just a few off the top of my head:

Birthright Citizenship

Workplace Enforcement

Sanctuary Cities

Secure Border

Manadated Education of those here illegaly

Your grandparents (or great grandparents) are lucky that they didnt have you around back when they came to the USA. Keep watching FOX news bozo. Your lack of critical thinking, and overt bigotry is obvious.
