We got a checklist :(

We received by email a couple of hours ago checklist for both of my in-laws.

The checklist were for the following:

Financial Documents - We already sent the AOS package on the same day as the IV package. We mailed them in two different packages. We suspect the financial documents haven't reviewed before the IV package was.

Military Record for my father-in-law - We included the military record that was requested per the instructions for the particular embassy. It was a half-a-sheet of paper.

Police Certificate - Per the instructions for the embassy where the interview is to be held, the police certificate is to be transmitted directly to the embassy. However, the instructions say to include a copy of the receipt showing you ordered the document and directed it to be sent to the US Embassy. The instructions also say to write a note in English on what it is. We included copies of the receipt and noted that it is for the police certificate to be sent directly to the US Embassy.

I instructed by wife to call (she is the petitioner). Can the phone reps see the digital copies of what was sent, or are they just going to tell us to resubmit?

They can't see them, (I don't think) but have your wife ask to speak to a supervisor who will then initiate a review of the documents. If you have another original or certified copy of the military records, though, it may be quicker to just send them. Find out what the supervisor says.

Oh, and as regards the AOS package, you're right. If they're asking for the whole package, it's probably a false checklist. She can verify that with the first representative she speaks to.

Also, apparently the afternoon/evening shift reps are nicer.

Surprised to see someone still up, however, I noticed you are 3 hours behind me.

Thank you for your suggestion. I forwarded it onto my wife by email because she is currently visiting her parents in her birth country. So, it shouldn't be a problem to get a new military document if needed, but my wife doesn't return for 3 weeks, and she wants this done with as soon as possible. However, I pulled the copies of the documents that we sent and I reviewed the "military" document. Per the US Department of State Reciprocity by Country list, this is the correct document for military records for the country in question. So, I advised my wife to request a supervisor to review the documents that we sent.

I also told my wife that we might seek the assistance of one of our senators who is also a member of the Senate Committee on Foreign Relations.

Wife called the NVC and the agent's response was a checklist is normal and automatic, and the financial documents (AOS) are under review. The agent informed her to call back after 30 business days from the day the packages were received (May 12) if we haven't heard anything.

Sounds like the checklist was a false checklist.
