At least here with the case number you can schedule your medical appointment and e-mail to Embassy to get your interview date since they don't always send you package 3. I have read a lot of people saying that they never got anything from the Embassy before the interview (All the instructions and forms are available online anyway so I don't need to receive anything from them).

:)

wow

but it will be impossible for me to book the medical appointment without knowing the exact date of the interview, because I want to accomplish them on the same week, in Turkey I need to travel to the capital to undergo the medical check which is far away from me (800 km) so I prefer to go there to get them both (medical check and the interview).

Well, I work 5 minutes away from the American Embassy and I live 20 minutes by bus from the Medical Office, so I'd rather have my medical before to make sure my records will be there on my interview date (When you have your medical at the same day it takes 2-3 days to get there, so you won't know if you will finally have your visa around 3 days after the interview. I don't want this stress. One girl had such an issue that the Embassy said they didn't get her medical but the doctor had sent...If I can have it before...Of course I won't do a month before but at least a week to have the records there on my interview date). I can schedule and let him know later about the date.

Oh wow, so you can just get the process moving right along when you receive a case number. Thanks for the answers, Hopefully some others chime in, but I appreciate any help given.

Consulates vary so check their site and call the medical office where you will be having the medical completed. We ordered the police report (we're told that takes 2-3 weeks to come back) and had the medical done because we didn't need a case number or NOA2 in advance; but that's definitely not true everywhere.

Does anyone knows if only the petitioner can call NVC like USCIS or can we do it too?

Yes according to this old forum (That's what I was wondering as well and was just ready to look for it).

http://www.visajourney.com/forums/topic/373580-can-the-beneficiary-call-the-nvc-to-see-if-the-case-is-received/

The bad thing is that looks like they take forever so it can cost a lot to make this international call depending where you live or which way you going to use!

That'd be so awesome, make sure you keep me posted when you get word of the interview. Are you going to stay in Santo Domingo? I think I will be staying with the future in laws in Bonao :)

I have a full itinerary. First day, I'll be with her family in La Vega (I practically live there now) and then the night before with her family in Santo Domingo. If all goes well at the interview, I'll be driving to Punta Cana to pick up her brother and spending a night there hanging out, then going to see my sisters husband's family in Santiago, then my best friends house in Sosua, and then back to her house in La Vega for the duration of my trip.

I plan to be there ~15 days or so. :)

I'll keep you updated.

You can try using google call if you have a gmail account. It's free and doesn't have the same issues as Skype!

It may be free using google call from Canada but not anymore from e.g Poland and Ireland. It used to be free to call the US from all over the world.

I have been trying to call NVC and have probably dialed about 50 times already. Thank god the is an auto redial app to keep calling until somebody eventually picks up. For everyone who will have to call NVC I suggest patience.

I finally managed to log into my account and it says case last updated 12/09/2014 but it still sys case received.

I liked the previous one where it would tell you if it was in pre-decision state. Sigh

Best of luck everyone! Hopefully we are all going to get good news this week! Come on June approvals! :):):)

To take the mind off this process, anyone doing anything special for the holidays?

I am making another trip to my local office at noon today, tried to go there on Friday but they were closed due to a water main break. I am getting worried as we are hoping for a March 21 wedding. Lets see what updates I can get today! May I say, Best of luck to everyone waiting! In the meanwhile, I have started getting all info needed for the interview stage ready for her! Will update you guys as soon as I am back from the field office! Its funny, even the guards at the door know me by name now because of the number of times I have gone there already! hahahaha!

l got a tier 2 officer and I don't have an rfe. I've given up. I notice way back there seem to be people that never get off the board. I think we're bound to be one of those. This is going nowhere.
