Guys, I just came back from the USCIS field office. All they told me was that the USCIS website, even though relatively slow is now in full effect. it is completely linked to the server and there have been 6 other people here before asking about the same thing. Exact words of the Officer " I HATE this website as well, there was no reason to change it, it was working just fine." I cracked up laughing in front of her. I told her how frustrated everybody was from this whole thing After I came back, I checked 20 numbers below mine, and 20 above mine, all show similar notices where there were no notices earlier.

Wow...so they couldn't tell you anything about your case? Or give you any additional info...or even hope?

Well, I know that my case is now under- pre decision activity, but I wont know more until I get the NOA2. Its funny is now it doesnt tell you if you are in pre-decision activity, only the USCIS field officers have access to that system, according to her, the case is with the FBI getting a background check as every case has to and now its in their hands to get it done in a periodic time frame. I was told by them that if I dont get an NOA-2 before christmas, to come and see them! It is definitely worth taking a trip to the field office if you have local accessibility and yes, the field office will not answer these questions over the phone even if you are lucky enough to get thru to one!

Ughhh we got our RFE letter.

Ssomething wrong with the birth certificate!! We send a copy of the original one. Maybe that wasn't good? Maybe it has to be a certified copy? Not sure. He is sending me the info on the letters tonight. So I can look trough them.

Guess we are getting a new one. I looked online and for 50 dollars you can get a certified one. In a few days.

So I guess that's our only option.

We even sent the long version!

Can anyone confirm that? The guide on this site says to just send a copy of the certificate and I feel most people would not assume that meant certified copy. I just sent in a copy as well...

So it looks like I will join the same club :) My fiance sent a copy of his short version but notarized it. I am not sure if this will make any difference.

So sorry you're dealing with this. RFEs can be super confusing sometimes because they aren't really crystal clear with the reasoning or what they want in return. Working with the information you provided, because you sent a copy (or bc your fiance thinks he sent the copy) they might want to see the actual original birth certificate. I know when you apply for a US passport (at least when I did several years ago) I sent in my original birth certificate and it was sent back to me with my passport. So you'll *hopefully* get it back. Obviously, not dealing with the same thing here; K1 visa vs. passport.

ANYWAY, I just googled "acceptable forms of proof of US citizenship" and came across this:

http://www.uscis.gov/sites/default/files/USCIS/Resources/A4en.pdf

Basically your birth certificate or a US passport is your only real way to prove it. Since he doesn't have a passport yet (and he should get one ASAP - if you pay to expedite it, you can get it in as little as 2-3 weeks), I'd send the original birth certificate back with the RFE notice and just hope it gets returned.

Maybe someone else has been through this before though. Did you try posting in the Master RFE List thread? http://www.visajourney.com/forums/topic/4725-the-rfe-master-list/

Someone there might've been through this before and might be able to offer better advice.

Good luck and keep us posted! <3

Thanks for your answer!

I was thinking the same thing! On the link you put in here it even says birth certificate is enough evidence!

And his has the stamp on it.. Its not a copy ith the original one he got.

I'm thinking we should just send that back. With a copy of his ID (not sure of my id is the same id in us) but his little card. with all his info on it lol!

And hope for the best. And in the mean time apply for a passport.
