I don't agree with all the words that have been withdrawn from normal use but I know why they have been and I don't need to keep testing every word just to see if it passes the test AND more importantly, using these words will not get you into trouble UNLESS you try to circumvent the system and knowingly use words you know have been removed from circulation by adding spaces or whatever other way people have tried to get around it in the past. Therefore, if this is the only thing you have to get upset about you got nothing really.

Too bad they didn't go after the rude, condescending, judgmental posts in the upper forums with the same vigor. That's where people get scared away, not here.

Waiting for the reports. If something genuinely offends your sensibilities in the upper forums (this goes for everyone), by all means report it. As grizzled and sometimes-put-upon participants in THIS forum, you'll know quite easily, up there, what's polite and supportive, and what's not.

This is being directed at Admin in general, not any particular moderator.

Being impolite and rude and judgmental is not against the TOS. I just don't think there should be as much of it as there is in the upper forums and a few specific users are quite guilty of it, IMO. Not everyone from the Philippines, RUB countries, etc is a scammer. Some people actually want to get a tourist visa to come here or help a family member do so to come visit. Why does the VJ membership need to know what kind of a job the person has or better yet question how someone from one of those "high fraud" countries could afford to come here for a few months? Does it matter if I know how much money someone's mother makes in Belarus so I can give them advice? Or do I ask those questions to ridicule the person and humiliate them. Or do I pretend that I just want to give them the facts and I'm sorry it hurts them to hear the truth? Or do I really take delight everyday to shoot someone down? Showing how knowledgeable I am about every consulate in the system and with my uncanny knowledge of how every officer thinks and what he will say to every person that he interviews in order to make you realize the futility in your question. IMO, it scare people away and makes them reluctant to ask for help. And I'm not talking about the ones who are obviously trying to pull one over on USCIS.

Now back to this forum. Now we can't post words that we hear on the news, tv shows, on the radio or read in the newspaper or online. I thought that this forum was composed of consenting adults, at least age wise, perhaps not maturity wise. Remember when Mary Tyler Moore played Laura Petrie on the ####### van ####### show? Now that was a family show, but the name is no longer family friendly. I'm also guessing that most people here plan on having a physical relationship with their significant others too. But heaven forbid there is any mention of it. The words that are being censored now has become comical. They teach this stuff in elementary school now. Remember the Clinton-Lewinsky scandal? How many elected officials have had their dirty laundry aired publicly? Kids see and hear this everyday, yet VJ, which isn't for kids has to choose baby words to refer to some things. End of rant.

One term that you used frequently is now filtered. Are you saying that you knew it was inappropriate and used it anyway? My guess is no one thinks it's offensive, but suddenly it is filtered. Try using the nickname for Richard. Is that offensive when it's actually someone's name? And now some body parts are filtered no matter what the context. I don't think it has anything to do wit he user base growing up. I think it's idiotic that words used in elementary school classes are not family friendly here. We see and hear far worse on the news everyday.

In fact this whole family friendly drive is about Google not classifying VJ as an adult site, presumably because it affects site rankings. My guess? It's to do with affiliate marketing revenue. Many people have safe search enabled on their browser, if you're an adult site you won't show up on a search.

The smell coming off this shoulder for 6 1/2 hours was fantastic.
