I'm starting to get my documents together for the I-129F and here's what I've got so far:

Photocopy of certified copy of birth certificate from L.A. Dept. of Health

Photocopy of all passport pages including Nepal visa and entry/exit stamps from last summer

Photocopy of Court Order of name change (certified by court where name change took place)

(note: passport and birth certificate show different names than bank records, etc.)

Photocopies of air ticket and boarding passes to/from Kathmandu (I found my bp from Kat finally, yippee!)

Photocopies of restaurant receipts in Kat (3)

Bank statement showing ATM withdrawls in Kat

ATM receipt from Kat

Tourist tax receipt from Kat airport

Photos of Kumar and I together(will probably be about 4-5, that's all I have!) :(

Is this enough evidence to show proof of US citizenship and legal name change as well as proof of meeting? Do I need to have any of them notorized?

Yes everything is good for the evidence of meeting within the 2 years. Proof of citizenship is good also. If you do send passport copies, copy all pages including cover, the passport it self can be used as proof of citizenship.

Just make sure you have a signed letter of marriage intent from beneficiary, and petitioner in your package, as well as compleat G-325A all 4 pages from both Beneficiary and Petitioner.

Thanks YuandDan!

I didn't know I had to make a copy of the passport cover as well, thanks for pointing that out. On to the next step... I will be sending the letter of marriage intent to Kumar and he will sign and send it back, is that OK? Is it alright if both of our letters are the same or do we need to elaborate?

Thanks!

You're in good shape. The letters of intent are identical - you can use the example here. You can email it, he can print it, sign it and send it back.

In my case both letters were formated same, just 1 from me and the other from my fiance. We used the form letter from this site available in the example forms.

We also sent a copy of my fiance's BC and passport with the I-129F application but I do not think it is mandatory.

However, some have received RFEs for this so I think it's better to be safe than sorry.

Oops, this might hold things up a bit - I didn't think he would need them until our application was sent to the consulate...

His passport and birth cert/citizenship papers were stolen by his parents(I wrote about it in the S. Asia section) - he has copies so is in the process of getting replacements now. Should we wait to file until he has them and can send me copies?

Thanks, at least that part sounds like it will be easy. :)

We didn't send any of the beneficiary's citizenship proof; he'll take it with him to the consulate. Check with people who are going through your embassy, but at the time I filed, C. didn't even have a passport yet.

That eases my mind. We have a lot of work to do yet, so I will get everything together and if he doesn't have the passport/citizenship paper at that time, I will go ahead and file anyway, if he has it, then I'll send a copy - can't hurt...
