My interview was on May 6. Everything went well except i didn't have original letter of intent to marry from my fiance. CO told me it is not a big deal and visa will be issued 4 weeks after i hand in the missing document. my status on the website was updated on May 27. It has been almost three weeks now. My status is still in AP. I am pakistani Canadian citizen. I have been living in Canada for 14 years now. A lot of people say that could delay my process. How long is AP time and I heard it takes a year even if you have a Canadian passport? My fiance is American. Should I contact the consulate and what is the best way to reach them? Anyone knows their phone number or email address?

I am so stressed out, I dont think I can wait a year :(

No one - not even the embassy - can tell you how long AP will last; it will just take as long as it takes, unfortunately. For most people it's a handful of weeks, for others a few months, and for those really unlucky individuals, years. There is absolutely nothing you can do to make it go faster.

no I was not told anything at the interview. I am female with Arabic name but from Pakistan. I was 13 when i came here and went to HS here and university. I only viisted backhome once. I don't know why that would put me in AP. My fiance is divorced, i gave the divorce papers to the CO. Would that contribute to being on AP for a long time?

Females from MENA+ countries experience less AP time than males (statistically). MENA+ = Middle East & North Africa. the plus is for the subcontinent countries (Pakistan, Afghanistan, etc..)

Again, it could be nothing, or it could be a name match. AP has been described as a black hole, without any further explanation given to the applicants.

The fact your fiance is divorced has no impact, as long as you guys have demonstrated that his previous marriage has been legally terminated.

Your status should change to "ready" next week and then issued couple of weeks after that. I was in AP since end of April and got Issued this week. No worries its just couple of weeks wait. I sent them email and was told due to email backlog it will take 8 to 10 weeks but guess what the next day I got issued. When did you sent the letter of intent? as I got issued 7 weeks after the consulate got my document. Good Luck
