Everything is clear as mud with Guangzhou.

After being in AP for months, they sent us an email saying my wife's visa requires additional processing and are asking for passport and photos to be sent to CGI Stanley along with police report and medical report.

So is this essentially an approval letter?

almost !

they cannot issue the visa without the passport and current stuff [medical exam if it's expired, pcc if it's expired, I-864 if a tax-year rolled over]

i would not call it an approval letter -

but

would say with certainty that the AP for CCP clearance is completed and they are moving on to getting everything together so that your beneficiary is qualified to be issued a visa.

The stuff they are asking for makes her documentarily qualified to be issued a visa. And that's a good thing - in a super-duper, neeto-keen (and SPIFFY) sort of way.

apologies for the Darnell-Speak - I know you've been combating with Guangzhou-speak for some time.

even with all that said - I interpret what they wrote to mean 'We are issuing her a visa and need current stuff as her stuff expired due to the lag we imposed on finishing up her casefile'.

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !
Ya know, you can find the answer to your question with the advanced search tool, when using a PC? Ditch the handphone, come back later on a PC, and try again.

That's great!

Thanks for verifying my suspicions... Yup, medical has expired and wife may be hopping on train to get another tomorrow. But police report is still valid (until 6/23) and an original police report was submitted during the interview. Strange that they are asking for it again.

Also CGI Stanley = Ustraveldocs, right? They want the submissions through "CGI Stanley".

eh - it's confusing on the submittal #######. used to be to send it in via CITIC Bank courier with a coversheet generated at the cgi/stanley web portal.

My dear left Wuhan this morning to travel by train for her repeat medical. She is mad at me for not understanding the submission instructions!

any news?

She had her medical exam on Friday, and submitted everything to the bank the same day. Now we wait...

One thing: She is worried her police certificate is going to expire on 6/23, I told her it was my understanding from the letter we received that as long as they receive it before it expires, it is OK and told her to submit everything (instead of getting a new certificate and delaying things more).

cool - some movement. keep checking CEAC status each day - around 10:00 AM local China time. I will bet that the docs were added to the casefile that day - last updated date is always the date a human touched the casefile - they are required to log the date/time but not 'what'.

keep a log, also, of the last updated date/time stamps - noting it's in CHINA local time.
