I think it depends on many factors and where you are having your case processed. For example, in my case, I submitted a request to switch from adjustment of status from within U.S. (I'm in U.S. now) to a consulate processing in my country (Japan). I just received an email from them saying my interview got scheduled for August 10th or so, even though there's still 2 month. I don't think this is typical, but maybe other people can chime in. In any case, I bet it varies greatly.

Interviews are generally notified a few days after the visa bulletin that shows your number as current., so generally just before mid-month. Depending on exactly when in the month your interview is, this would usually be around 7-9 weeks before the interview. For example right now anyone with an interview anytime in August has been informed.

Congratulation to your friend! However I just wondering that the visa bulletin for June is 7,425 and July will be only 8,900 for Asia. Why AS9*** can receive 2nd notification? Please share your idea.

Thanks,
