Best way for me (Canada) to spend most time with girlfriend (USA)

Alright here's the story, I’m Canadian and dating an American, we met while both living in the caribbean and have been dating for a bit over a year.

We recently got back home from the caribbean and I’m now visiting her in the USA just buy using a vacation tourist visa which lets me stay for 6 months.

I’m self employed doing mobile development work and my small business is based in canada. I can work for myself pretty much anywhere in the world without taking jobs from the USA(or wherever else I would be staying).

My girlfriend is about to go back to college soon in the states.

Once the 6 months are up and I go back home to Canada I’m wondering what happens next? Do I have to spend 6 months in Canada before visiting back in the USA to spend another 6 months? Or can i come back sooner than that?
Are there other ways to get around this? Or other things we can do?

Thanks

Fiance(e) K1 visa. Takes 6 months to a year normally. Time spent waiting outside US.

Marry. US citizen petitions with I130. Can take longer than K1 path but you have green card on entry.

Again time waiting spent outside US.

Both of you emmigrate to a third country. I have no idea how long that would take.

You can visit while the visa application is being processed but I wouldn't spend 6 months at a time.

Maybe a few of weeks every 2 or so months.

Thank you, goodnight and may your gods go with you",

Dave Allen.

Are you planning on marrying and immigrating to the US? If yes, please see the "what visa do I need" under the guides.

If that is not on your radar yet, yes, CBP likes to see more time out of the US than in. With a USC girlfriend, limited ties to Canada, and a recent, substantial stay in the US - one can expect difficulties returning quickly

good luck

Also, just FYI, even though you're kind of working in Canada via the internet, you're physically working in the US, and you could get in trouble even for doing that. The laws haven't caught up with the internet, and it is still technically a violation to work in the US even if you're online with Canada. It's crazy, I know, but it's true. Just something to think about. At some point this may come and bite you.

I'm not judging, I'm just warning. Be careful.

Thanks for all the replies and information.

@canadian_wife - Marriage isn’t really on the radar right now, we’re both still young(ish) and don’t plan on it just to speed this process.

@nightingalejules - Had no idea on this, thanks for the heads up.
