Hello,

My mother is serving as a sponsor for my wife, because my income is currently not high enough to meet the requirements of the USCIS. On Form I-864 Affidavit of Support Page 1, Part 1, Question 1, Would my mother check that she is the Joint sponsor, the first of 2 Joint sponsors, or the second of 2 joint sponsors, or would she check box 1a. also as a Petitioner. Its a little bit confusing.

When doing the I-129F and form I-134, she filled out the same form as me I believe.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

I'm asking because I was reading page 8, of the I-864 Instructions page and its really confusing because it deals more with who was lasted on my taxes instead of anything else it seems.

My wife and I currently live with my mother and my brother. That is 4 people. I didn't have any dependents on my taxes last year. My mother only put my brother as a dependent last year.

Is my household size 1? 2? 4?

What about my mother's household size?

Are you the sponsor or your mother ? Does your mother or brother depend on you, any children ? if no to all then the household size is 2. You and your wife

Also, how do I determine Current Income? In part 6 of the I-864 it asks for current income. Is that the place to write the yearly salary?

Yes, yearly gross income

I am filing for my wife's Adjustment of Status What kind of IRS transcript will the AOS packet require? IRS website says I can choose amongst Tax Return, Tax Account, Record of Account, Wage and Income, etc. I work as an Independent Contractor and never get any cash back so I'm assuming it wouldn't be a Return that I should send in. I plan on sending in the 3 years worth as initial evidence. I was just going to send in the copies of three 1040s, but I read on here that the USCIS doesn't like that, right?

Send them the transcripts of your Tax Return. You can get those free of charge and online. They are less bulky and favored over 1040's.

Good luck!

Each one lists their own household size. Everyone you live with is not necessarily in your household count.

How to count household size >

Your household size includes yourself and the following individuals, no matter where they live: any spouse, any dependent children under the age of 21, any other dependents listed on your most recent Federal income tax return, all persons being sponsored in this affidavit of support, and any immigrants previously sponsored with a Form I-864 or Form I-864 EZ
